A good idea or yet another opportunity for scammers.
I am inclined towards the latter.

So plod decide to 'tackle' fraud by adopting the scammers contact method of choice...mmmmm, that'll do it!

Sub plot - this is a really simple and cheap way to make it look as if were are doing something.

To be fair, we keep moaning about the police ignoring fraud and nothing happening if a bank pays back the money so this could well be them trying to get the word out that they do take it seriously, even if from a victim's point of view often it appears they're not bothered.

People want actual involvement by the police - not virtual involvement.

Watch the scammers latching on to this as their next tactic.

Plenty of banks follow really bad comms practice too - in fact so do plenty of people who really should know better.

It's really annoying and is a big reason scams work.

I was defrauded out of several thousand pounds last year by means of 70+ payments to an online betting account.
The bank paid it back immediately and I never heard about it again - do they do much in the way of following it up or is it often just written off?
