Because KTM enduros cannot provide the "safe space" which the tuktuks have. Obvious, really. (Also the tuktuks can deliver a few pizzas on the side)

No number plates. Are they awaiting registration or... ? (edit: There's a photo of the back and there's no plate, and the article mentions it being used on walkways, parks etc, implying they are intending using it where a vehicle could not usually be legally driven)https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-63262276

I love the last part of this comment:
"The feedback was overwhelmingly positive with parents telling officers that they would feel safer knowing that there was support for young people out at night, and from women who could think of an occasion when the tuk-tuk would have been a welcome sight."

If Wales is like Bristol those would last 2 mins before being stolen....even police ones.98elise said:
If they are using them for a specific purpose then why is it shameful? Police walk beats, and ride horses or bikes. Is that also shameful?
It's not all high speed persuits driving Evos and Scoobys.
The Police should project an air of authority, should they not? I mean if vinyl wrapping rainbows on their cars and dancing at pride events wasn't pathetic enough, now they're being seen in daylight driving tuktuks. It's not all high speed persuits driving Evos and Scoobys.
I mean...LOL.
Feel free to tell me I'm wrong...but it's not like we have an incredibly low crime rate in this country. I guess I'm just old school when it comes to respect for authority.

I get that they look silly, but if they want or need something for a specific purpose then that's what they need.
In Spain I've seen police using similar (but electric I think) on a beach front promenade. I'd rather they can get from one end of the beach to another in a few seconds than have to wait because walking is better for their image.
