I’m in no way advocating this, but...
Discussion
It's an interesting thought experiment and one we would assume that the various special forces round the world are actively pondering.
Could it be that there is a significant risk in us popping him off (whether it works or not).
In that if we miss, he presses the big red button, if he gets shot, someone else presses the button.
Presumably the actual plan is to encourage / help / assist someone on the inside to do the dirty on him and take over power in some coup type way having already agreed a way forward with them?

Outside a full-on military assault rather than a targeted assassination, seems only three plausible options given the precautions he obviously already takes with the long tables etc.
Israeli style remote weapon / car bomb as he goes by. But that needs serious intel and surely he has body doubles, so how can you be certain. Same for putting a guy at the airfield with a missile.
Super long shot sniper. Same issue as above plus does he ever go outside? Only really see reports of him in the kremlin, the parliament, or at the dacha.
Huge bribe to someone in his air transport maintenance, plant a bomb in the structure of a plane and play a waiting game. Again needs state level intel and support.

How difficult would it be to assassinate President Putin?
Is he so well guarded it’s impossible or could it be done?
Just interested in people’s thoughts.

Well lets consider the target. A tin pot dictator who used to be a KGB agent, is paranoid, rarely leaves his guarded palace and only really does so in armoured vehicles (with or without ZSU anti-aircraft cannons installed)... I'd say it'd be pretty fking hard.
He'll be surrounded by security, military and police who are loyal to him and because he knows a lot of people want to try the crown on for size and a convient "accident" would be ideal for them he'll make sure that 1. He's not alone with any one party (so the others won't allow their opponents to gain power) and 2. will have people loyal to him to kill the would be ascendant to the throne and/or their families.
But you're not thinking about the right question. Getting rid of Putin would be pretty fking hard, but not impossible but the issue then becomes, who takes over? Ultimately you don't want to replace Putin with someone who it more extreme/dumber/arrogant that Putin. Ideally we want a tamed dictator of our own but at least someone who isn't a war monger and at the same time, strong enough to avoid being taken out and replaced themselves.
In any case, it'd have to be an inside job and a lot of the Russian military would need to be in on it.

The short answer is, imo, very bloody difficult. Putin is probably the hardest person to kill on the planet at the moment. Is he so well guarded it’s impossible or could it be done?
Just interested in people’s thoughts.
but you're asking the wrong question, from my perspective. A more important question is "who takes over after he's been assassinated?"
Both questions come with industrial sized cans of worms, with the latter coming with the biggest one.

It needs Russia to rise up against him but that will never happen.

Certainly, a western citizen would have a hard time.
Guns are freely available to buy (had a look at a nice desert eagle on sale in a Moscow market and also a Thompson Submachine gun), but you won't be getting anywhere near him.
Our minder followed our every step outside of Moscow and I'm sure we were kept an eye on in Moscow (even in Spearmint Rhino !)

Send him a cubic foot of coke and a bus load of hookers. He might over exert himself and have a massive heart attack.
I like your thinking and that most likely would work, if the coke and hookers ever made it through to him.If anything over the whole invasion of Ukraine has taught us - is that reality doesnt get through to Putin. That means any coke or hookers sent will be stolen, grabbed or mislaid before it even got to him. And he wouldnt ever know.... except that half of his cabinet and Kremlin employees would be high as kites or very relaxed after spending a night with a lady.
Actually, lets be honest, doesnt have to be a lady either - pretty sure a good percentage of those in power in the Kremlin are up for anything its probably better to just call them 'sex worker' rather than anything else.
