Police shoot man dead in Police stn yard in Derbyshire
Discussion
This seems to have gone under the radar and certainly seems an odd occurrence for police to shoot someone in a secure Police Stn yard

Derbyshire Constabulary said in a statement: "At 9.55am today (7 October) officers reported seeing a man armed with a knife in the secure car park of Ascot Drive Police Station, off Ascot Drive in Derby.
"Armed officers were sent to the scene, and at 10.03am a police firearm was discharged.
"The man, whose identity is unknown, sustained a gunshot injury and East Midlands Ambulance Service were requested to attend."
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been informed of the shooting.

Three people stabbing in a street robbery
One person at a police station with a knife
Which of these two events will the police remember and trot out at every opportunity.
Now don't get me wrong I have sympathy for the officers especially the ones who pulled the trigger but this will be used to further agendas
The current terror threat level is substantial (the lowest it's been since its introduction)

What agenda would that be?
Whatever the current thing is.But often just to get you in the system, provide your name and date of birth, address so we can check you through the system.
Recently 3 arrested for showing a Russian flag, as it upset those with a Ukrainian flag
Arrested to ascertain details

Perhaps voyds has wandered into the wrong thread?
Unusual for someone to get into the police yard so armed? but based on casual observation (our office overlooks a police station) they're not super high security.
If tasers didn't work, and the suspect was a real threat to people (hard to conceive otherwise) then this sadly seemed the correct outcome.

It's fine for Batman to be "enigmatic", but it just comes across as daft on a car forum. Unless of course you're Batman?

I love the way the statement uses elaborate phraseology to avoid actually saying "the police shot him". Can they not just use plain English?https://news.sky.com/story/man-armed-with-knife-sh...

Well they ve named him now, he was none of what they originally thought.
I guess we ll never know why, unless his family come forward with something.
