Seemed perfectly OK a few days before. She was old but not enough to die of old age. Maybe time to go out and but a tinfoil hat biggrin

To our knowledge she wasn't being treated for any terminal illness. Would you have preferred to see heart attack or something?

TBF 96 is fairly old for most species of Lacertilia.

Assume you are referring to her death certificate which is in the public domain and lists 1a as Old Age and no other contributory causes

Old Age is allowable on the certificate and unsurprising as a cause of death. The mood amongst medics is not to shy away from putting Old Age and to avoid unecessarily medicalising death.

It's also an excellent way of keeping whatever conditions she may have had out of the public domain

Quite right in my view.

The best bit is - Occupation - 'Her Majesty the Queen'

Honestly what difference does it make other than to peoples morbid curiosity?

When you're 96 something is going to do for you and I can't see any problem with "old age" being listed.

TBH we are surprised at this , the fact she was up and around with no sign of impending death the day before .
We would have put money on a massive stroke causing a very rapid decline , and perhaps a DNR in place .
But whatever the cause, a great loss RIP with Phil

96 year olds do just die suddenly. It happens.

Whatever other factors contributed old age was undoubtedly the major thing. And having old age on the certificate grants a tiny bit of privacy Seems fine to me.

My father was mentally prepared for his death. As he put it, we're like a car engine inside, and with high mileage the moving parts all wear out. When you're 96 all the essential bits which keep the heart working have worn down to their limits, like piston rings.

She was 96! How old would you suggest someone needs to be to die of old age? banghead

Amazing the mental gymnastics some people are prepared to engage in to conjure up some weird conspiracy theory.

If it was a conspiracy theory, she wouldn't have died of old age, it would have been with Covid or she had died years ago and we've been seeing a stand in for the last few years or some other such dreamed up story.

Exactly this. And quite frankly it's none of anyone's business to as how she died. For all I care she could have had a heart attack whilst having a massive wk. None of anyone's business.

Is this thread the PH equivalent of clickbait?

She was skin and bone in her last public days.

She may be long life - but she was not immortal.
96 is a very good innings. Not sure I'd like to reach it though.
