A great man. I always liked him.

For a while at least he and - despite the prophesies of nuclear Armageddon- Reagan changed the world for the better.

I always thought that there was a genuine rapport between him, Thatcher and Reagan that made for a bit of optimism.

Hmm, he criticised Putin a couple of weeks back....

Goes down in history way way better than the useless incumbent .

A sad loss, a shame he isn't in power still instead of the current lunatic. RIP

From an era when our leaders were great men and women who understood the ultimate responsibility of leadership. He must have been distraught at the way that Putin squandered his legacy

What a leader he was... Can't imagine his despair of what Putin is doing now....

Long may he rest in peace......, back with his wife Raisa....

I’m old enough to remember writing a primary school letter to Andropov about not wanting nuclear armageddon.

RIP Gorbachev. Right person at the right time.

Thinking similar.

Going through what he did to have the legacy in the state it's currently in.

RIP.

RIP frown

His legacy will always endure in the West, although I think there are more mixed feelings towards him in Russia.
