I hope they don't come back for more general waste/litter reasons.

The others will be just waiting for their current inventory levels to drop before announcing a stop sale.

The fire that destroyed a building/dwelling in Bedford recently was caused by some idiots who used a disposable barbecue, and left it sitting on a wooden deck after they finished using it. They did not even set it in a pair of house bricks to protect the wooden decking.
The government just cannot legislate effectively for the terminally stupid.

That's an event that's not going to get off the ground then!

If you have a shed and 8 months patience, now would be a very good time to make a keen offer for 10,000 of them!

With all those gas burners going, they might have to ban the balloons too.

Plenty of places you can buy a bucket BBQ and some cheap charcoal for under £20 (less than £15 in some cases). I don't think it'll stop the truly stupid from doing harm.

That's a pretty dumb reson really. Should they also stop the sale of matches, cigarettes, lighters and normal BBQ fuel too??

Can't we just ban braindead morons who use these things without taking reasonable precautions?

I hate them !

PHer Dirky Dirk and myself went to Cholmondely Paegent of Power a few years back, we camped and took enough ale to kill us both seven times over, plus we had a few in the bar then went back for a barbecue on the disposable one he had brought.

Woke up the following morning and went to the loo, thought should clear up so picked up the disposable barbecue and took it to the bins, I picked it up and as it wasnt level a load of water came out over my hand and sloshed onto my leg, strange I thought as it hadnt rained, suspect he had tipped water on it being a responsible chap.

Well, it wasn't water, he had responsibly pissed onto it a few times since getting back, then overnight the filthy animal ! biggrin

Not sure I've seen many people wheeling their homebase charcoal burners and backpacks full of briquettes up to moorlands and beauty spots before leaving them unattended. But, if you think that's what people are doing and contributing to the wildfires this year then perhaps those items should be banned too?

Indeed. And to think, everyone gets an equal vote.

Scary thought.

I bet disposable BBQ's are not the main source of fires. We had a fire up the fields last week, like many of the fires it was kids setting fire to the straw and crops.

So we need to ban kids as well then.

That requires effort though. Disposable bbqs are bought by lazy folk.

There's been a few round our way. Trouble is, the farmers would normally plough a fire break around the field shortly after harvest...but with the ground like concrete, they can't. I've noticed they've been very quick to bale up the straw instead though.
