The bloke's a millionaire who I'm pretty sure could be off on a sunny beach somewhere rather than doing early morning TV rounds pointing out the tsunami that's about to wash over some people.

STEPHEN GLOVER: I don't doubt we're facing a serious crisis. But do the BBC and its favourite prophet of doom Martin Lewis have to be so apocalyptic?

Gotta love the Mail.

Mail logic is that when an asylum seeker gets a house it's a national emergency but when we're facing a situation that will drive a lot of the population into dangerous poverty we should shut up about it. Someone said that it wasn't a tory paper the other day laugh

Well, you're the one reading it and posting sly links to their website encouraging clicks.

Is Boris mentioned in the article?

Oh, and whilst other factors were an influence, this is the bloke who encouraged people not to fix their energy tariffs.

He wasn't exactly preaching caution when there was a few quid in it for him.

He sold his business and has apparently donated about £20M to charity.

And that's a problem because...?

Be interesting to know if people who would have normally taken a “fix” when they were still available are now in a worse position because of his advice? Or will be in October.

He criticised the Tories, therefore he must be attacked.

Does seem a little like that so far as the Mail are concerned doesn't it.

Have to say I'm a little surprised at some of the responses on the thread so far.

It might be me but I'm really struggling with how he's been anything other than a force for good around this and other issues.

About the nuts and bolts of it.

Daily Mail prostrated themselves for Boris and look likes will be doing the same for Truss so any criticism must be defended and any objectors must be taken down.

He does a good job trying to help people save money and is vocal when he sees obstructions or politicians seemingly not taking it seriously or acting quick enough (as we’re seeing with Boris now doing the absolutely fk all). Nowt wrong with that.

IMO the Daily Mail and Sun are largely responsible for the mess this country is in.

It's a lovely summers day and will be a fantastic weekend for the weather, something we don't get enough of in this country that everyone can enjoy.

The last thing the vast majority of people want or need is the constant catastrophising of whatever agenda said broadcaster wants to try to create as that days news agenda. It is great to start to see the media eating itself from the inside and long may it continue.

They will be doing the same reports next month when nothing will have changed.

At least they aren't still moaning about the BBC not reading out the football results on Saturday at 5pm. That kept them going for a few days.

Really? Was it the Mail and Sun who didn't plan for the replacement of our nuclear power stations which are all near end of life?

Did they give vast subsidies to wind and solar which has the side effect of making gas powered electricity more expensive and costs consumers £10Bn a year?

PS wind has been producing under 2% of demand all day today. https://gridwatch.co.uk/

Did they ban fracking and discourage investment in North Sea production?

You solve that problem by not watching the news. It's always been miserable.

This.

Life becomes much happier by not watching the news. Rolling 24hr channels have nothing happy to talk about, it's all gloom.

He seems an honest man, however rather strangely he always reminds me of this:

“It startled him even more when just after he was awarded the Galactic Institute's Prize for Extreme Cleverness he got lynched by a rampaging mob of respectable physicists who had finally realized that the one thing they really couldn't stand was a smartass.”
