Sir Ryan Giggs Appreciation Thread
Discussion
Caught some commentary on Ryan Giggs via the radio this morning and felt compelled to lean a bit more about the chap. Disappointed to find no prior PH thread on NP&E.
When Joey Barton calls someone a "wrong’un" it sets the bar pretty low. Checking out some of his previous misconduct, how did the Welsh FA think this person was suitable to manage the national team?

Not to mention sports personality of the year When Joey Barton calls someone a "wrong’un" it sets the bar pretty low. Checking out some of his previous misconduct, how did the Welsh FA think this person was suitable to manage the national team?
There have been rumours for years about his behaviour with women, and allegedly doesn’t mind allegedly giving them a smack, allegedly.

but no condemnation
Yup. Footballers in the UK - although Continental Europe has its demons too - seem to get away with misogynistic and general bad behavior. Usually, the manager or club spokesman will cite some explanation including long hours and being under pressure, etc., whilst underling the players valuable contribution to the local community. If Giggs is convicted of the alleged offences he should be banned from any leadership roles in professional football.
I know we've only heard the prosecution case so far and both of them are probably as bad as each other but he doesn't come out of this looking so well either way.
I'd previously admired his skills on the pitch but have since held a pretty low opinion of him as a person after all that business with his brother's wife,

I'm no fan of Ryan Giggs, (although he was a very good footballer), but as far as I am aware it's not a crime to have a wandering willy or gaslight someone,
This case will hinge on whether it can be proven (without reasonable doubt) that he assaulted this woman and her sister.
Whatever happens, his reputation is in tatters

Why are “both of them probably as bad as each other”?I'd previously admired his skills on the pitch but have since held a pretty low opinion of him as a person after all that business with his brother's wife,

Reading the lies that have been exposed in court is disgusting, what a poisonous piece of st she is. Text messages to her mates saying she's lied about having cancer, secretly having her contraceptive coil removed to milk him for child maintenance money, admitting she lied about him hitting her in police bodycam footage etc.

Whats to say he didn't spiral her into such a depression that she was seeking connections with people to feel like people cared about her as who she was with made her feel worthless. Those suffering from domestic abuse will commonly backtrack and lie to the police at the time for fear of repercussions. I think you have idol eyes for Giggs and unwilling to accept that he might have been a bad apple off the pitch - he was hardly world-class on the pitch anyway. Its not like he is going down in history books for his footballing.julian987R said:

I'm a City fan btw.
Somehow I just can’t see Alex Ferguson having a player regularly on the starting eleven if they were “average at best”.
