I noticed this is trending on Twitter, had a look into it and what are Wickes playing at

Jumping on the usual corporate bandwagon of making the right sounding gestures.
I presume the T bit is a pun on tea and builders. In decades in the building trade I’ve yet to see a bloke in a dress chucking bags of cement onto a trolley. Maybe they wear the dresses when the days over. Who knows or cares.

None of the women I have seen on building sites where dresses.I presume the T bit is a pun on tea and builders. In decades in the building trade I’ve yet to see a bloke in a dress chucking bags of cement onto a trolley. Maybe they wear the dresses when the days over. Who knows or cares.

You're thinking too hard trying to come up with a pun - it's Wickes (more accurately, presumably their LGBT employees) making a statement against the various movements and pressure groups that are trying to draw a firm dividing line between groups defined by sexuality (LGB) and gender identity (T) which for decades have generally worked usefully together to advance and improve things for all of them. Now there are attempts to drive a wedge between them.I presume the T bit is a pun on tea and builders. "No LGB without the T" isn't something Wickes has come up with. It's an existing slogan and doesn't really need anything else reading into it. Same as the other one about conversion therapy. It's not a joke about turning your loft into an office.
As greg565 said, it's rather pleasing to see a corporate float actually making definite statements on a current issue, and ones that risk pissing off a certain number of people. Better than the usual thing of just turning up with some rainbow-themed logos and offering 'support'.

It was on their pride float, so not a poster campaign as such.
Good point, I'd assumed this was outside one of Wickes' branches. I've not been to a Pride festival: presumably corporate floats are a big thing, not just Wickes being random? Got to admire the way big business can appropriate and monetise absolutely anything. Someone in a marketing office somewhere is looking at the XR motorway blockades and thinking "would they be up for a sponsorship deal?"2xChevrons said:

Thanks for the explanation. The slogan does make sense regarding the wedges growing between LGB and T. I know a few who have been unhappy for a while with the more extreme end of the transgender movement, I hadn’t realised it had become a dividing issue. It rhymes, that's nice.
Let's spell it out. No Lesbian, Gay or Bisexual without the Transexual.
How to win LGB friends and influence people.
That’s the spin the LGB alliance put it, but I don’t think that is how most people in the broader queer community understand it - more ‘we wouldn’t be here without them’. Let's spell it out. No Lesbian, Gay or Bisexual without the Transexual.

Wasn't there a 'T' only parade in Brighton the other week?

Oh goodie another Trans bashing thread.
ThatDoes anyone care about Wickes doing a Pride float?
Nb it's only the straight media and the mainly straight supported group LGBa that are finding it controversial after the event, there was no controversy at pride itself.
