Trying to fathom out the back story.

It's a very strange incident.

Quite. Police arrested two people and said it was believed to be an "isolated incident", so I assumed it was done by somebody known to the parents for some reason, yet now they have released CCTV of somebody they are looking for. No name is mentioned so I assume they do not know who it is:

If it follows the common patterns either a random nutter (as in Peterborough last year) or maybe the father; coverage has mentioned her mother and stepfather.

100% this. The thought of the tax payer having to keep this fker alive for the next however many years is beyond me.

The noose is too good for these kind of cases.

Awful incident.

Hope the police have got the right guy and that he rots in jail for life. Although saying that, I'd happily have the death penalty back for something like this.

I hope it wasn't a random attack and that there was at least some link to the victim. Sounds a bit of an odd thing to say but that story a few years ago with the nutcase woman who slit the throat of a little girl, completely chosen at random really shook me as I'd think nothing of letting my 8 year old run free and play in a park.

Terrifying to think of the monsters that roam among us. I gave my kids an extra long hug at bedtime, can't imagine how I could cope if this were my daughter.

Terrible incident and good that they have made an arrest so quickly.

I'm pretty local to this and some of the reactions/speculations/comments on social media has been disgusting and vile.
Comments on the Lincs Police Facebook feeds have been turned off as it was getting out of hand.
