Some of our family members are enjoying a holiday in Gibraltar, week one completed and very nice too. Now a major problem has occurred on the Island which has cut off the water supply, that is totally cut the supply. A fire in the tunnel followed by a rock fall has damaged the water pipes and cut off the electricity. Repairs will take five days, the hotel are giving their customers 2lt of bottled water daily, that’s it. No baths, no showers, no water. Just one week to go until end of holiday, they are going to have to use the sea to bathe in hehe

That could indeed be a significant part of the problem!

No man, nor indeed rock, is an island

They could always walk over the (hard) water to La Linea, rent a room for a day and have a wash and a brush up.

Even Barry Island isn't an island. It probably does have water though.

Walk over the runway to a hotel the other side in Spain and book a room... thousands cross the border for work every day.
Plus - what on earth is there to do in Gibraltar for a week?

Good question. Especially with no running water. Me, I’d be jumping in a car and going somewhere much more interesting. Cadiz, Jerez, Sevilla and hundreds of other places with atmosphere and a rich cultural history are within easy reach. Of course you won’t get an English breakfast or a Sunday roast, but Andalucia is the home of ‘tapas’.

It’s some family members who live on the Island, big family get together. Is a R&R event. I think 30 or 40 members of the family joining the occasion.
