Can't find a thread on this so...

Saw this today on Sky, strange ad, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9xDrLuuotU

I don't get what football has to do with online abuse, and don't women post offensive things online, didn't Katie Price get done for such things, or does EE think it is OK for women to do this, after all it's not her problem!

I feel EE is being sexist.

They're using that technique to disguise poor sales as in that female Ghostbusters movie.

Those illusory misogynists in their mother's basements sure get around.

I'm not sure how you make the leap from what that ad to about to EE saying it's OK for women to do stupid stuff.

It's really not what the ad is about.

I think you're being dense. Football/sport has tons of online abuse and of that most of the sexist stuff is directed at women. Kick It Out is hardly new unless you've been living under a rock.

This.

Women's Euros on at the moment. Woman players and referees frequent targets

Undoubtedly women are responsible for a lot of unpleasant abuse against women but the violent misogyny (rape threats etc.) comes from men.

Aye, a lot of the stuff football “fans” say on social media is appalling and there have been long running campaigns trying to cut down the abuse.

They’re obviously targeting women’s football with this ad because of the euros.

OP’s user name checks out.

I ask myself 'why do we need campaigns like this?', then I read the first two postings in this thread and remember that 'they' walk amongst us.

Yep...

But the ad is clearly doing what it was meant to... Getting the product mentioned.

Am I?

How do the images of actual injury and other suggestions translat to online abuse and maybe I do not know anything but what I do know is although I don't agree with the promotion of womens football I would never dream of posting abuse, but what the ad suggest is because I am male I am responsible anyway.

Posting abuse is wrong whether your male or female.

Aye, I had a double take at that line.

I get the feeling that not all men but definitely this guy fits here.

This, can't see anything specifically blaming men for abuse of women online.

BTW as a parent I've always tried not to funnel my kids into traditionally gender specific activities, whereas I know quite a few parents (including women) who simply don't want their little princess playing football or little prince playing with dolls.

All you need to do is click on the report button on the youtube video and then select why, the menstrual bleeding and teeth removal isn't suitable for children imo.

Appropriate username.

The advert is saying "let's stop posting misogynistic crap about women". It really isn't any more complicated than that.
