Halifax upsets some customers with pronoun usage
I don't care what people want to be known as, but is all this really necessary?

People getting wound up and threatening to cancel their accounts because someone has their pronouns on their badge is embarrassing for us as a society tbh.
I have my pronouns in my work email sig and no one has ever mentioned. Maybe I should post it on social media to farm some outrage

I added it to my works email just to annoy people as it's optional and the majority think it's 'woke gone mad pal'
Once everyone does it, I'll take it off again
I try to be a non-conformist by following rules other people think are nuts, it really plays with their minds.
To the point where the people I sit next to expressed disbelief that I had do so, until I pointed out I was the only one in the team of 30 who had, at which point the realised the majesty of the act!!

What a load of bks, complete non-event, but I guess the Daily Mail needs to pander to it's readers.
How many people genuinely care enough to dick around closing their accounts and moving mortgages? I bet a handful at most actually do so. The rest are just keyboard warriors venting off about something which doesn't affect them.

Better to rise above it. Not sure setting out to annoy others is the best way, even if they have questionable justifications.Once everyone does it, I'll take it off again

Ironically, I suspect 99% of those frothing about this never actually go near a branch, and hence never get to see a name tag with a pronoun on it.
Additionally, they probably don't receive email directly from Halifax personnel, so nothing to see there either.
Moving mortgages and bank accounts seems such a lot of trouble to go to, just on 'principal' (as so to speak)...

I don't really understand the badge TBH
In the Halifax case it says:
"she/her/hers"
Is that, like, a specific option? Doesn't say Miss or Mrs?
Can I pick and choose from the whole list, so could I have a badge saying:
"she/her/him/it"
Or is that forbidden? Srs question.

You can have those as your pronouns if you want. There's no set rules, it's just supposed to be helpful to refer to people in their preferred manner. Which used to just be polite but is apparently a radical political statement these days.

Why on earth would someone get upset about it let alone cancel their account.
Now, shall we reverse that and actually think about why they feel they have to do it in the first place?ZedLeg said:

Miss or Mrs isn’t really something that works when the badge only shows the first name… In the Halifax case it says:

"she/her/him/it" would presumably make you a “they/them/theirs”.
