Any ideas why the likes of Claire Balding, John Torode & Gregg Wallace have received gongs from her Madge??
Looks like there are several other slightly controversial names in this lot:

Just wait until she gets "down with the kids" and gives them to those creeps that pull stupid faces and screech to children on YouTube.

It happens every year.

The full list has hundreds of people who nobody outside their field of work is likely to have heard of.

Absolutely this, 1% of recipients are you have heard of and you are think unworthy, the remaining 99% are people you have never heard of and (having read a number of citations in the past) wouldn’t disagree with being honoured in some way

I would argue that 99% of heard of and unheard of recipients don’t deserve one. Its a complete joke.

some randoms from the list…

Founder, Harry's Rainbow. For services to Bereaved Children and Families in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

For voluntary and charitable services to the community in North Lancashire and South Cumbria

Director, Inspire 2 Quit Blades. For services to Young People and the Prevention of Knife Crime

Foster Carer, Salford City Council. For services to Fostering

Volunteer Centre Manager, Big Venture Centre. For services to the community in Wolverhampton, particularly during Covid-19

Are you one of those who thinks volunteering is a thing “other people do”….

I was "Mentioned in Dispatches" a few years back when I was a military pilot. All I got was a few nice words from the Station Commander in one of the rooms in the Officers' Mess with a photo and a certificate thrust into my hand as full and final payment. He then quickly fcked off back to do emails in his office and I remember feeling a bit deflated about the whole thing.

Not quite what I expected lol but I'm sure all those rich celebs deserve their big ceremony with her maj laugh

I'd rather these people receive recognition than those highlighted at the top of the page.

The whole thing is broken, honour’s should go to people who actually do something good or over and above, hot for doing the job you are paid to do, or because queenie or those in power have heard of you or like you in the telly program

Medals shine but also cast a shadow.

The vast majority are deserving. If you know of someone who you feel is, submit a recommendation.

I would contend that the overwhelming majority do go to people who do make an exceptional contribution to society.

I disagree. Anyone who has been in the armed and civilian services for the past five years gets the Queens Jubilee Medal

https://www.forces.net/news/queens-jubilee-medal-a...

and reaching a certain rank or position in the civil service has always pretty much guaranteed you an OBE. I've no objection to people getting gongs for outstanding achievements or bravery beyond the norm, but the rest of the honours system is a joke

Good advice. Nobody gets anything unless someone nominates them. (Though obviously, they still wont necessarily get anything.)

The Queen's Jubilee Medal is a commemorative medal to indicate that, on the date of a given event, you were serving and had served for a qualifying period of time. It isn't an 'honour' as such.

As to your point about the Civil Service, that may have been the case 30+ years ago - much less so now.

My bro-in-law was in the Navy on HMS Argonaut during the Falklands war, luckily coming home without a scratch. He then broke his leg badly enough to need traction and so received his Falklands medal in his hospital bed with the same immortal words

I agree with your final point having been in the CS for yonks. There has to be a hook to hang an honour on and it cant simply be long service.

Heard this woman on the radio this morning. Interviewed before she wentbto wotk.

30 yrs in the police. Qualified as a nurse at 55. Within months working on Covid wards. Husband died of Covid. Back at work 6 weeks later.

Not everyone can be singled out but I think she fully deserves her award.

Those are the sort of people we should be focusing on but you don't hear so much of them because they aren't celebrities and they just quietly get on with the job.
