Seems that world leaders are signing up to it and handing over a lot of control to the World Health Organisation. Hadn’t heard much about it and seems to be something they’re trying to sneak though, so probably no good for the general public.

I can see positives in that it could get treatment to the at risk populations quickly, however it depends on how these powers are used overall as they’re open to abuse.

Petition against for a public vote on it here

This is important and at last the media are bringing attention to it because so many people have no idea.

I like the idea of open source. A bit like twitter should be.

This just says it all..

“A former software developer by the name of William Gates has written a book called “How to prevent the next pandemic”. Its main message, according to one uncharitable reviewer, is that we can prevent the next pandemic by “doing all of the things that did not stop the last pandemic event, only more, faster and harder”. But even Mr Gates does allow that “regardless of how COVID started, even the remote possibility of lab-related pathogen releases should inspire governments and scientists to redouble their efforts on lab safety, creating global standards”.”

Some of it makes a lot of sense - commitments to sharing information and vaccines, for example.
Some of it makes sense, but even the vaccine proposals need detailed assessment and thought. Would the west be happy to wait for vaccines they have researched and produced if the WHO decided on a "fair" allocation for example?.

However likely most of the concern is due to the dubious record of the WHO during the pandemic and concern that this treaty could creep into things like vaccine mandates being imposed by a supranational body.

I'd be happier about it if the WHO hadn't completely changed its advice under pressure from governments last time, quickly replacing the science which governed its pandemic measures with The Science TM.
