Surprised there is no thread on this already.
Tim Westwood (ex Radio1 DJ and presenter of Pimp My Ride etc,) has been accused of sexual misconduct by 7 black women.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-61188603

These allegations seem to be reported in a BBC documentary but the news article makes no mention of a police investigation.

I don’t recall it but looking at his Wikipedia page it states he was accused of similar in 2020 but these allegations were not investigated.

To say I’m no fan of his is probably an understatement, but are we REALLY doing this again? Ruining someone’s life when they haven’t been found guilty of anything, while those accusing are afforded anonymity. I thought the press learnt their lesson with the whole Cliff debacle. If he’s found guilty, then great, fill ya boots, but until then….

The only thing he is guilty of is his dodgy accent.

It's not like he was a children's TV show presenter.

Born in Lowestoft and his father was the Anglican Bishop of Peterborough.

Not exactly Dr Dre either - is he?

I'd like to see this topic closed until after any trial.

They said on the radio earlier that he's 64. I thought I misheard so just Googled it. It's true! He's only 18 months off being a pensioner!

Westwood - YOUR PARED SON....

Anyway, Westwood is the UK DJ version of MC Hammer.
If you know what I mean, you will know what I mean!

Well no, he isn’t Dr Dre. Dr Dre is primarily a producer, musician, and rapper. Tim Westwood is a DJ.

I totally get why people don’t like Tim Westwood, but to dismiss him as irrelevant or a joke would be extremely naive or disingenuous.

He has been an incredibly successful and influential figure in Hip Hop. He is very well respected by the US hip hop artists, and for many years they knew that he was pretty much the man who could make or break an act in the UK.

As Snoop Dogg said about Westwood “you can’t come to the Kingdom and not see the prince”

He started a YouTube channel a few years ago, Westwood TV, and now has over 500 million views.

His compilation mix albums have been some of the biggest selling in hip hop/urban music, and he’s won loads of awards for his DJ’ing, radio shows, and contribution to urban music in general.

Yes, many people find his personality ridiculous, which is fair enough, but that’s genuinely how he is. He isn’t putting it on. “There is no alter ego. There is no Clark Kent to the Superman” is how he once described it, and by all accounts, it’s true, he really is that person you see and hear.

There’s been stories going round about him for years. Only surprise is that it’s taken this long for it to become more public.

I watched the BBC 3 documentary last night. The vast majority of the allegations were around him being sleazy and, with the possible exception of 1, none of the stories included the women saying they said "no".

Certainly an abuse of power, but seemed to be with niave consenting adults who were too shocked to say anything when they got into certain situations. As I say, sleazy, but not illegal

Based on the accounts in the doc, the only charge I could see against him is him putting his hand up girls skirts (in public when doing photos).

The doc could be the floodgates opening for other complaints.

"When was it that you realised you had been sexually assaulted by Mr Westwood, Miss?"

"It was when the recording deal failed to materialise."

IANAL but that's a very grey area. Just because they didn't say "no" does not mean they actually consented.

Obviously this is all allegedly, time will tell if it anything more comes of it.

I worked at the BBC some years back and met him twice. He's exactly as he appears on TV or radio, though he's actually a lot geekier about his subject than you might imagine, and seemed to know absolutely everything about everyone in the business. Imagine a car-mad 15 year-old who can recite the precise engine capacities of every model in the VW range (yes, that was me) and apply that to hip-hop and there you have Tim Westwood.

I have zero knowledge of his sexual escapades, I hasten to add.

Rumours about his conduct towards women have been floating about for years.

I haven't watched the programme, but read some of the headlines. He's in serious trouble. It does sound highly creepy and predatory inviting desperate teenagers and taking them away for sex.
