I haven't posted in one of these for a while, mainly because it's turned into a crap fest of arguing and "IT'S A WEF CONSPIRACY TO TAKE YOUR FREEDOMS AWAY! REEEEE FASCISM".

But is it time to stop counting cases? Or least publishing them? We weathered Omicron with a slight change in restrictions that went away with nary a whimper and the doom of hospitals being flooded didn't materialise, Denmark is dropping all restriction from the 1st of Feb too. Is there a point any more?

Only if you want to keep the pandemic going.

I’m a bit confused about the high testing figures now PCR isn’t required. Do people really do home LFTs and upload their positive to the nhs website? Why? And there is no checks on validity of the result so it’s complete garbage, how public health policy can/could be shaped by these home brew results is a concern.

Called care home again this afternoon.....

Sorry, we had ONE staff test + so we have to lock down, might get test results by next friday if we're lucky!

Last saw Mum on Boxing day after seeing her at least once a week since she went in, 18 months of window/doorway and finally inside visits

Every week since it's been "waiting for test results", "had a staff member test +" "infection control telling us no visitors"

These are all injected staff as i know they lost some when the mandate came in

So whats the fking point with the injections if they are testing +???

Cases will go up, a lot, at the moment once you had a positive test that was it, you were done. Now if you catch it again you will be counted again. If 50% of people are now catching it for the second time that is a 50% increase in cases. On the positive side the IFR and CFR along with the hospitalization rates will plummet
Just thought, if all metrics are published (cases, hospitalisations, ICU, deaths) we will be able calculate percentages for reinfections > hospitalisations, reinfections > ICU and reinfections > deaths

(Who was asking for reinfections >> ICU?)

None withstanding the woolyness of the "with 28 days" criteria I suppose

And might not be meaningful as if the majority of reinfections are in the younger cohort, you would expect near zero hospitalisations and deaths regardless

To be honest I think he will be distancing himself from the situation, he's been used as a scientific puppet throughout, the question is if he knew the data he was presented was BS or was he the one orchestrating the BS itself.

Ah how hurtful and inhumane.

can she voluntarily leave? ie a trip out with you, lunch out or even sit in your car in the car park?

I've seen the vestigial garden ornament on other threads trying to sealion as the forum moral police, and generally getting told to fk right off by other forum residents. I look forward to his return, so valued are his inane contributions.

And there are still people hysterical over our high cases numbers, and in places like NZ, locking down over EIGHT cases

It's no wonder some people try to explain this reaction on something other than government concerns over public health.

Gosh yes! I had forgotten all about that guy!

He really does seem to have managed to do a complete Claude Rains type disappearance.

I still can't help feeling this pandemic has been such a clusterfk due to the number of petty bureaucrats and middle managers who have been given power beyond their wildest dreams, and now they have it, they aren't giving it up without a fight.

My exhibits to back up my case - N Sturgeon and M Drakeford.
