Oh come come, don't play dumb. Or do you think she's transformed herself into an intelligent, cultured woman in that time?

Alternatively you could have pointed out that she's just been promoted to the cabinet, something I wasn't aware of until a few seconds ago

It does make you wonder whether Johnson simply holds culture and the arts in such contempt as to put Dorries in charge of them.

Or she really is the best he can come up with.

Which must really fk with your head if you're one of the seemingly capable Conservative MPs who simply hasn't kissed enough arse to get a look-in.

At this point, I can only assume that either Boris is trolling all of the UK, or I'm in some kind of coma induced fantasy dream brought on by a car accident (just like in Life on Mars)...

I've no strong opinions about her, for or against.

But most of what she wrote in that tweet seems to be an accurate assessment to me.

Given the reaction of some posters on here I suspect the appointment is having the exact reaction BJ intended. Let the culture wars commence and see what happens in the next GE.
(Not suggesting that this is a good thing but it is bloody canny politics).

Trying to start a "culture war" with the entertainment industry is efectively pointless. They can (and have) leaned on the BBC, Channel 4 will probably get neutered, but after that what have you got? Arts Council funded bodies that mainly put on highbrow plays, operas and ballets?

I mean, she could always phone up the singer from Sleaford Mods or Idles and ask them to write a few less songs pointing out what ****s the Government are, but I suspect that wouldn't go too well.

I can't say I'm a massive fan, but the thrust of that tweet seems fairly accurate.
