The point that is being (purposely) missed by those who say "we should have done something" is that even if we had set the wheels in motion to have done something the situation developed faster than we could have done something.
Unless the Govt. had sent a team out the same day the news broke here that she wanted to come home it was all going to happen like it did.
It is simply not possible to complain to a journalist and the Govt. will swoop in and rescue you from your own bad choices.

Fair point man Unless the Govt. had sent a team out the same day the news broke here that she wanted to come home it was all going to happen like it did.

That is the point I am making? Her kid is now a martyr to the cause and the British government a bigger enemy than it was thanks to the home secretary's posturing.
What cause? No one cares - ISIS types care less about her than the British public do. Until the Times found her she was a nobody. The only people who care are folks like Diane Abbott and Jeremy Corbyn.

we don't know why the child died, was the cause the camp conditions? She made her bed, and an Innocent has died, nothing to do with government, how anyone wants to see it.Getragdogleg said:

This ^^^ besides which I suspect there are more deserving cases in the "...get them here..." queueUnless the Govt. had sent a team out the same day the news broke here that she wanted to come home it was all going to happen like it did.

I like how her father sits there telling us what we should do.... while living in Bangladesh.
Give her a room in your house, she's yours.
Having said that and whilst I'd like nothing more than to leave her to rot I'd like to think the UK was above reactionary policies, we have signed up to an international agreement to outlaw making people stateless, you may not like it in this case but it was done for bigger reasons as in the case of Idi Amin and going as far back as Hitler.
We may not agree with what she says but really what has she done? She went to Syria as a 15 year old and was promptly married off and used as a baby factory, as far as I know she wasn't an enemy combatant rather a dick that got sucked in and has some very unpleasant views.
I know I'll get a kicking on here for this but after all the court cases she WILL come back because she was born here, why not just bring her back and throw the book at her for going to Syria and being married off (someone can perhaps explain how this was illegal as I genuinely don't know) and hopefully some kind of de-radicalisation program can be put in place.

It does show up though the unintended consequences of dog whistle politics (aka populism)
No one forced Javid to revoke her citizenship: in fact that action has been shown to be contrary to international law.
Sure, odds were against the lass and her kid ever coming back before camp conditions got the better of the new born.
But Javid made it almost certain that the outcome would be put on him.
I don't think the uk needs another kid to look after when there's plenty already here who need help, but the child was British and the uk govt. effectively washed their hands of it. They need to take the criticism on the chin.
I acknowledge Javid was in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, which is why we have principles and laws to guide you.
We may sit snugly in our 1st world set up, admonishing those who left for the 3rd world, but our principles are what defines the first world (well, that and running water, heat, medicine, rule of law, queueing ..etc)

Her child has died, whilst I'm not going to crow about that I'm not going to give a fk or else it would be an insult to all the other thousands of unnamed babies that die that I don't know about.
Still don't stop her being a terrorist. She should realised that the conditions she was in wasn't suitable for a baby when number 1 and then number 2 died but no she spawned a third which quelle suprisé has died and that is that
I agree with the about poster about sick of hearing about this scum. I look forward to not seeing her god awful image

Given that the child was born abroad, supposedly to a Dutch father, then wouldn't it have to be registered as a British citizen as opposed to automatically being one?Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
