Steve Jobs delayed medically proven cancer treatments (you know, things like surgery and chemotherapy) for NINE MONTHS while trying out alternative therapies.

What a total fking hmongtard.*

He bought his ticket and claimed his prize.

And he could have easily been able to afford the best surgery in the world!

It was pancreatic cancer, he probably didn't see the point of conventional treatment and, sadly, he would have been right.

Unfortunately, as he proved, the other stuff doesn't work either.

Agreed a real shame, however just proves the point that you can be good at one thing and rubbish at another....

I wonder too that if you're surrounded by yes men, being told to do something comes as a shock - if it'd been me the doc would have used the 'well I can't tell you what to do, but if it were my brother.....' and I've have done as told!

With his condition his time was limited anyway regardless of what he chose. True he mightve bought himself a couple of years with conventional treatment but he wouldve known its just a couple of years. I suppose if you buy into 'alternative medicine' then you feel anything is possible.

I suspect many posting here would have a different view if they had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I will never forget being told by a friend 'no' after I asked 'are you okay' - his Dad had been diagnosed with it. I headed over and we looked up the diagnosis.

Everything we read on the net that night was true. I can't post anything other than say it was a terrible, painful, degrading 6 months his Dad and for the family. I imagine had I read similar I'd be rushing to 'alternative' therapies. I don’t know how I’d react.

Pancreatic cancer? Certainly. Would sir like the slow, prolonged, poisoning of your immune system with our super advanced chemicals? Or perhaps the extra-special Whipple in which we remove most of your internal organs, good as well as bad? May we recommend the apricot macro diet special. The outcome will be the same but you probably won't feel as rough.

OP: walk a mile in his shoes before bestowing on us the dubious pleasure of your special wisdom. "Hmongtard". Hmm.

Maybe thats why he didnt put his faith in 'proper doctors' this time round? With all the money, education and expertise in the world the medical lot still get things wrong from time to time.

I think it is a non story, this type of cancer is very hard to remove and extremely difficult to fully clear.

9 months is nothing.

Don't know if this is true but this is a comment on that story

Adenocarcinoma of the pancreas is uniformly fatal However, Johs had a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor which is actually very easy to treat. Complete remission is seen in over 90% of cases that are treated promptly. It is actually very hard to die from the pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, unless you do something stupid - which he unfortunately did

Well, if you can find data that backs up all this medically proven treatment to which you allude which will assist (or would have) assisted Mr Jobs to the extent that you appear to believe is pssible, go right ahead.

But I rather think you'll spend a long time looking......

Other than some weird kind of almost gloaty quality to your post, what's the actual point of it?

The guy did what he thought was right by himself.

Perhaps with hindsight it wasn't the wisest decision but frankly your post comes across as if you just want to do a Nelson Muntz and piss on the guys grave.

I await your anecdotal evidence of your friend Doris who beat gout with her 100C Duck Vomit homeopathic tincture.

I can understand a cancer patient shunning treatment, on the the basis of having 6 active months rather than 12 months feeling knackered and ste after chemo.

But to hope that acupuncture will do the trick seems to suggest that meta data of numerous clinical trials are incorrect.

Oh, there are some medical treatments which are far, far worse than the condition they purport to address, and they have very limited results. It's a lot nicer to just succumb. It never ceases to amaze me what doctors are willing to put humans through.........Whilst we would happily end the suffering of our pets in the same situation.

You're going to be waiting a while as that wasn't my point.

I have no idea if Jobs made a good or bad decision. I do believe however that it was his to make, and I don't seem to have read too much in the way of him blaming anyone for his condition or deterioration etc.

Perhaps if you'd chosen a bit better title for the thread, and some completely different words for the body of it, you'd have a point, but the way you've done it just came across as being in very bad taste and almost spiteful.
