Berlusconi doesn't try to hide the fact that he's a Scumbag, unlike the average British Politician...

Google translate suggests it means "force/d celebrities" but since I can't speak Italian I can't verify it.

Meh, non story, even the article fails to make me think the comment was much more than light heartedly addressing the criticism that Berlusconi has faced lately.

"celebrities" is a little bit mild - colloquially it's a bit more like .

And frankly, even if David Cameron said "wouldn't it be funny if we were the Party?" I doubt many people would laugh. His country is falling to pieces and all he can do is make crude jokes.

Well shock horror the opposition party condemns the party in power at any opportunity and shock horror the Guardian condemns a right wing government led by an apparently womanising sleaze - They were never going to have anything nice to say about him really it's the nature of the game.

He hardly said anything hugely wrong IMHO. Given the scorn he was inevitably going to draw may as well have said it whilst wearing a pedobear shirt, tbh, it's almost a shame that he didn't.

You have to give it to Berlusconi - he sure knows how to wind up the lefties!

“We will change the name of the People of Freedom party, because people no longer carry it in their hearts,” the prime minister, 75, told MPs.

“I’m told the name that would have the biggest success is ’Go Pussy!’” The Italian word he used was “gnocca”, the meaning of which can range from “babe” or “crumpet” to the female genitalia.

I always wonder why this is put in nearly every political story. I take it for granted they won't all be in favour.

I love Silvio with all my heart. I'd love to see him and Boris run the country, it'd be a comedy act to rival Morecambe and Wise.

Had missed this one before now...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8097988.stm

"Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's joke about the newly-elected Barack Obama being "young, handsome and sun-tanned" hangs over him on his first visit to Washington since the election."

+1. Is it really any wonder that Europe is so utterly fked when this is the kind of leadership we have?

There are loads and loads of great things about Italy - but the fact that they cant do better than him for a leader is shameful.
