Tonight's Tory PPB
Discussion
It was Ok, and as oothers have said, how can you argue against the aid when so many in the UK get benefits all of their lives without question.
However,no matter how well intentioned it is, is that really what the general public want to hear - Is that the message that puts them at ease about the UK's future prospects? I'm not so sure.

Yeah, let them all die.
Personally, I'd rather we spent £5bn on aid to the poorest in the world (properly directed to avoid dictators' bank accounts) than on benefits to workshy dolescum in this country.
I'd rather we spent £5 billion than the £12 billion and rising we're giving away. The man is an idiot.

This will save us money in the long run by reminding people that "those in need" are not those claiming incapacity benefit so they can pay for the pub and their fags, the 'asylum seekers' on other benefits, and the families in expensive central London houses paid for by us. A moral and financially very savvy broadcast.
It was an interesting idea, but I don't think many will be persuaded that the Tories are any more philanthropic than before the broadcast.
In a way it reminded me of JayZ car thing, in that it's using a tragedy to promote their own public awareness. I'm not sure I'd like to see this catch on.

So maybe Steve Hilton left the speech alone so he could work on the PPB.
Even if not, it has all the hallmarks, regardless of whether or not it left itself open to enemy fire. Presumably the aim was to be bullet proof, signalling that CMD is still running scared of Guardian headline writers and BBC reporting.
Being too scared to go on the offensive is a very risky strategy at the mo.
Pity - this was a lost opportunity.

If they were increasing Police pensions, no doubt he'd be a genius.
Well. If he can't see the perversity in decimating our Police force (a vindictive and spiteful decision following him getting his arse kicked following the Sheehey report) while throwing billions at African dictators, then he shows just how poor his judgement is. I despise the man as much as Brown.

Think about that carefully...
There's no difference between the two. They both promised much, lied and cheated their way in. Quietly dumped all their election promises. At least Brown was barking mad, so had an excuse for criminal incompetence. Cameron is just playing Prime Minister by numbers.

I think your second and third sentences sum up all politicians. At least Brown was barking mad, so had an excuse for criminal incompetence. Cameron is just playing Prime Minister by numbers.
There remain many material differences between Clown and CMD.
CMD is by far the better No 10 incumbent and he's not exactly hitting the spot even so.
Clown was beneath contempt, at least CMD is at eye height with it. And the areas of CMD's incompetence won't cost us quite as much, which alone is a recommendation.

I missed it. Did he say they were going to drop all this carbon cutting b
ks..?
Thought not...
No however more importantly there was absolutely no mention of climate change or the need to lead the world in saving us from ourselves so I'd take that as a positive especially with the boy George also showing signs of common sense creeping through.

Unfortunately it's not stopped us from giving a million quid to Robert Mugabe to help him prevent climate change, which of course is exactly what he used it for.

We already give billions in Aid to nations with space programs and we get told we have to cut lollypop ladies back at home. Im sorry but charity begins at home Mr Cameron.
As for comments of 'better that than the billions we give out on benefits to pay for the pub' etc does anger me. I used to work for the Job Centre and im still involved with two disablity charities and the idea that the Welfare bill has a massive goldmine of savings in it because 98% of them arent really sick and they referee football on a Sunday or 110% spend 4 million on cigarettes a week on job seekers is just Daily Mail hysteria and fantasy. And the Government will find that this massive saving they think they can make off the Welfare bill without affecting anyone negatively is highly unlikely to be the case.
Yes theres some people who take the piss and the system fails in preventing it, yes theres some issues with dependancy culture in some areas and i generally support the Governments ideas for empowering people and general reform. The system is broken i agree with that, partly because alot of people doing these jobs arent good enough at it and make basic errors, the civil service is woefully out of date and ineffective people get moved rather than sacked. DWP incompetance costs the taxpayer more per year than benefit theft and thats a fact. I support 'fixing' the system but go through some of my paperwork and you'll see some of the underhand ways they're going about it which might make you think slightly differently.

Was it a PPB or a famine appeal? Sorry Cameron but charity begins at home at the moment and with the world's population tripling in the last 50 years unfortunately natural selection has to take over!
