This isn't getting a huge amount of coverage over here in the UK, which isn't that suprising I suppose given recent events...

Seems like quite a nasty affair. Certainly more worrying than Libya ever got.

They're rolling tanks out on their civilians......that's kinda heartless. The president does look like Hitler though. What is with his moustache anyway!?

Ask the Syrian security forces how disproportionate the response is. You can do the googling yourself and you can see what the "protestors" have been up to. Hanging soldiers.Cutting soldiers to pieces before and after killing them, tying two policemen together, shooting one and throwing the two in a river for the other one to drown while died to his mate that was just shot. Dumping dead protestors in a river and trying to blame the security forces. Torturing soldiers and police is not protest.

Im sorry but if the rioters here were doing that to our police Id be fully in support for the military to start shelling the ****s.

Without a doubt the security forces are being brutal, but so are the protestors that kicked this off.

Im not posting the videos, they are truely awful but they are out there if you want to find them.

A lot of the "protestors" were called "insurgents" when they were fighting our soldiers in Iraq.

@ Mr Dave.

But, the Syrian regime has been a brutal one for decades. This is nothing new.

As has many others. If we are going to intervene in some we should intervene in others .

Syria is something that either we should leave well enough alone or let the Turkish sort it out which seems to be very likely.

My problem is that we cannot support this uprising as many that are orchestrating it are exactly the same people that went to Iraq to fight the great and little satan.

It's funny you mention the likeness to Hitler. The Syrian and Iraqi Ba'ath party was originally formed from links to the German National Socialist Party, iirc.

I doubt that "we" will get involved further than bleating at the UN.
