Papers suggest DOOOOOOM opening on Monday.

I so, do you think the US will start a 'war' with their rating agencies?

Moody's, Fitch and S&P got it badly wrong when they rated tranches of dodgy mortgages mixed with a few good ones.

They are relatively unregulated, yet have huge power.

I think the US will now suggest regulating them a bit more tightly.

Tel Aviv stock market had to be suspended at one point today due to the fast flow downhill of shares...

Forgive me but how does that work? Surely they can't shut up shop because the shares are falling too much can they? Seems a little one sided.

I'm not an expert, but sometimes there are automatic checks in place to prevent problems if a rogue figure enters the system.

ie if shares are trading at £10.00 and suddenly appear at £2.00, you want to put something in place to prevent the sale in case it's a bug.

The rolling news was describing the ftse as being down, even when the live prices were up. They were not helping at all.

Not as horrific as the press will have you believe. This was largely rumoured/expected over the previous weeks. Given the questionable mathematics from Standard and Poors it probably also loses credibility so not that bad I'd guess. More important that the European's get their act together and start buying Italian debt.

We're doomed. For tomorrow and Tuesday. Wednesday we'll be better, slightly.

The general concensus seems to be that the markets have already factored the downgrade in to last weeks fall.

Dow futures were down 300, currently -250. Ftse at-50, not too bad at all, expect we might end up neutral and even up by week end.

The psychology is horrendous right now. At a guess,Down down 750 points by end of week. Its just unknown what will happen to credit and borrowing costs. I have never seen anything like this before.....
