Bleating bds.

It's not about the cost of food it's about fat lazy bds who want to go out shopping for tat than spend time actually cooking from bare ingredients.

Step 1 give yourself a solid slap for being a useless and wretched human being.

Step 2 stop pissing about at Lakeside as a recreational persuit.

Step 3 go and ask your granny to teach you how to cook.

Step 4 stop buying pre packed food, crisps, expensive cuts of meat, bottled water etc etc etc.

fking useless tts.

Fully agree - always shocked by the number of people buying tinned pasta with "cheese". Why would anyone do that?? Surely it takes a few minutes to boil the pasta and put cheese on top and voila! a meal that may actually taste of food instead of tin.

You can survive on bugger all money if you really put your mind to it but so many simply haven't got a clue.

Had a fab rice dish tonight, must have cost 50p.

Despite what my username suggests, I have never eaten a ready/microwaved meal in my life. Love cooking, and grow/produce plenty of my own ingredients. Despite this I can't see how you can deny, or fail to realise, that the cost of food has increased.

Now, in true PH form, 6/10, nowhere near enough swearing wink

A woman at work does this, trolly full of ready meals and assorted prepared crap and she moans constantly about the cost of food, My weekly food bill is still well under 40 quid (for two of us and including sandwiches for work) and we eat really well, we just eat fresh ingredients and buy a meat pack once a fortnight from a good quality butchers near me.

Truth is in todays society its just people being downright bone idle.

It doesn't take no time at all to steam some veg, do a jacket potato and throw a pork chop in a pan or under a grill, not overly expensive but a nice simple meal.

I really have no time for people who sit and moan about how expensive their groceries are when they blow all their money on processed st.

Food has indeed gone up but people need to be a bit more smart about what they buy and how they prepare it.

Anyway rant over, i've just had a roast (on a Thursday i know) and i'm about to tuck into some ice cream.

Food has gone up, even proper food.

Butter especially has gone up significantly over the last 12 months.

Key ingredients have gone up but by buying ready produce you are also incurring the increased cost of plastics, taxes and fuel.

The moment you start cooking your own food from scratch your health improves and you save a fking fortune.

I've just gorged on a rather nice pumpkin risotto. It can't have cost more than a pound a portion.

I'm just tired of these dumb fks being allowed to whinge. Whether it is about the price of Coke, Monster Munch and haemorrhoid cream going up or some dumb chimp complaining about their mortgage while surrounded by luxury TVs, sofas etc with a fancy car on the drive.

What the fk has happened to this country. It just seems to be full of retarded people who have lost the ability to feed and home themselves but spend all their time staggering around shopping arcades and wking over Kerry Katona.

I'm sure that the majority as allways are silent and wise and getting on with life but can we not just rise up for one small revolutionary moment and tell these people that they are fking vegetables and give them a sound, good old fashioned beating.

Triggered by just getting home and the Capo Di Capo was watching a programme on ITV where various fat tts were bhing that they were finding it more and more difficult to be fat, lazy and ignorant.

It appears to have hit a nerve.

In their defence, I do honestly think it would be VERY hard for them to be more lazy and ignorant...

Milk and butter prices seem to have gone up. No idea about ready meals, we don't tend to eat those (save for a "curry" for me as the OH doesn't like them). Our general food shopping bills are going up though and we are buying the same stuff, so I guess bills are increasing...

I cook proper meals using meat and fresh vegetables and stuff. Over the last eighteen months our weekly grocery shop (excluding drink) has gone up from around £60 to £100 plus and it seems to increase every week. Mrs 230TE and I haven't changed the kind of food we eat, or the quantity.

This.
All food has gone up, some very sharply over the last year or so.

Pound a portion = £3 a day assuming 3 meals at the same cost = £21 a week = £84 for a four week month. FOR ONE PERSON. Now a family of four could need to spend four times that a month = £336 a month on fecking pumpkin and rice.... Doesn't work out so cheap.

You'll probably find nowadays that a meal consisting of prepacked value label food is significantly cheaper than the same type of meal made from fresh ingredients at home so don't think that cooking from scratch actually saves you any money it just allows you the option of better quality and the chance to factor out certain chemicals and additives. Think about the price of fresh meats and fish vs frozen, fresh tomatoes, sweetcorn and peas vs. tinned for example.

Checked with the boss. For 2 people the rice amounts to about 30p and half a pumpkin was used at a cost of 40p.

Crude costs of 70p for 2 meals.

Many prices have gone up but these people are suffering because of their own stupidity.

We've become obsessed with having to have meat and lots of fancy things that are not needed.

I'd agreed with you. Butter is up about 30% in the last 12 months, and even economy butter is costs well over a £1 per 250g pack. Tinned fish has risen substantially more. Tinned mackerel, for example, has gone up in price about 65% in the last 18-24 months. Meat is up a lot, particularly "cheaper" cuts like pork belly (I have a cut off point of £5 per kilo and my selection is dwindling). Bread and pasta have also risen in price - particularly for the cheaper brands.
