confused

It's all in The Budget.

How much they collect, where they collect it from and what they spend it on.

It's all public domain.

And they spend about 30% more than they take.

It is a much more telling statistic than any individual tax rate though.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2010/apr/2...

Shows how much they have taken as a proportion of GDP

And this one

http://www.ukpublicspending.co.uk/downchart_ukgs.p...

Shows spending over roughly the same period.

It shows why we are fked, and it shows how much the government is screwing us.

ONS said:
The unemployment rate for the three months to May 2011 was 7.7 per cent of the economically active population, down 0.1 on the quarter. The total number of unemployed people fell by 26,000 over the quarter to reach 2.45 million.

There were 1.52 million people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) in June 2011, up 24,500 on May. The number of men claiming JSA increased by 15,000 to reach 1.03 million and the number of women claimants increased by 9,500 to reach 493,900, the highest figure since August 1996.
The measures were taken over different periods. JSA for one month to June, unemployment April to June.

To help you understand the difference in the figures, have a read of this: http://www.statistics.gov.uk/downloads/theme_labou...

Clearly not enough at the moment!
Thanks to the good old Labour party deciding to run a structural budget deficit in 2002 handing out too much welfare!
