Stuuupid.

IMO

But then there was probably a 50% chance that the winners would have lower than average intelligence.

Incredibly stupid IMO. The amount of hardship stories and begging letters they are going to receive will be astronomical, to say nothing about being targets for local crims and gangs.

By all means go public, but do so knowing that your very next move must be to GTFO of the country immediately or go in to hiding as best you can.

Why would you do it?

Every leech for miles around will be descending on them with begging letters from this evening until they die.

I can only guess it’s because they feel that by choosing to go public they control the publicity and if they opt remain anonymous the news will probably leak out at some point.

But I think they’re bonkers.

That's probably how it was sold to them but the person who won £113m a year or so ago... No one knows their name and it's not been reported. Always 'An anonymous winner of £113m' when in the news.

I think it's probably the done thing to not publish their details if they don't allow it, even if the papers know who it is.

NO idea, a very dumb move, do they think everyone will just be happy for them?

Makes their close relations immediate target for organised crime.

It would come out anyway......this way they have a (small bit) of control on how it's done.

Chances of winning £161,000,000.00 and remaining anonymous; slim to none.

Personally though, i'd sort out those who warranted it and go travelling for a year to find a place i'd want to live and get the hell out!! (taking my F50, F40, Lotus Carlton, Intergrale, McLaren F1, e39 M5 and SL65 with me on my super-yacht).

If they're 16-30, are named either Wayne or Mercedes, have at least 3 kids under 4 I'm going to be so happy.
It'll be like giving a monkey a loaded gun.

Does anyone know if Nigel Page and Justine Laycock (winners of 54 million last year) had any hassles?

The idea of winning 166 million sounded great at the time but I'm not sure if I'd want the dangers that come with it. I have read the Beckhams have had multiple kidnap threats etc. I'd hate to put family members in danger because of the attention that amount of money would attract.
