There was a chap on the news this morning who seemed to support the climate change propaganda. He was picking through newspaper headlines but really enjoyed one particular article (I can't remember which paper it was in, sorry).

The article in question stated that, due to climate change, we will be seeing more heatwaves. When we have a heatwave, this results in very low wind speeds (sometimes harldy any wind at all). The wind farms that have been popping up over the years then become useless.

The solution to the problem of a lack of wind was shown as being more coal fired power stations. So less wind, but more coal being burned. Eh?

I find this whole climate change agenda more bizarre every day. It wasn't too long ago that wind power was being touted as a brilliant renewable form of energy. But now, due to climate change, we will have no wind to power the farms. So we'll need more coal power stations?

Very, very odd. Talk about contradicting yourself. confused

I didn't see the piece mentioned, so can't comment on that directly.

It does seem that there are many people that have strong views on the whole climate change thing, one way or another. I'm always wary of dismissing the other side's arguments as being rubbish, especially as the truth probably lies somewhere between the two positions, and the real argument should be about where exactly between the two positions it is.

What I will say is that the only way to get people to stop using so much energy is to make it more expensive. I believe some moves have been made in that direction already...

Don't worry, it's the start of a new government tax

"Emergency Energy Pact"

Due to climate change the windymills don't work, so we need to increase taxation to fund coal power stations silly

Thing is, the climate always changes. Has done for millions of years and will continue to do so.

I have a degree in environmental science, another in ecology and one in geography. (mind you I am old so have forgotten lots of the stuff)

1. I believe in climate change, it is impossible to dispute, climate has changed throughout history and we wouldn't have the landscape we have today without the UK having being significantly colder and significantly hotter.
2. I see no firm evidence that it is caused by man, and in particular by CO2 emissions
3. Indicators now show that global temperatures are falling slightly, but that never gets mentioned
4. Ice caps are increasing in size, but that never gets mentioned
5. Media and government stance on climate change is garbage invented to support weak policy and poor decision making whilst providing an excuse for additional tax burden on individuals and industry

Thats my take

I've had climate change this morning.
I was out at 6.30 am, it was quite chilly.
3 hrs later the cloud was broken and the sun popped through.
Then the wind got up.
It's currently mild but the wind is taking the edge of this.
This afternoon and later it is expected to rain.

Yep, climate change(s) all the time, as it always has done and always will.

Just a thought.
We have Eco Towns, how long before the pro wind-farm environ'mentalists' suggest we have mini Chicagos?
ie: Windy Cities biggrin

The name for that phenomenon is weather, not climate.
