I've never been into crime\detective type programs but for some reason always loved the Columbo series, I think maybe it was the clever use of naivety by the character to gain the evidence\confession he needed. He played that part brilliantly.RIP.

Damn, that's bad news. Is it me or does there seem to be a lot of, what's the phrase, "old favourites" passing away recently?

RIP Mr Colombo...

It's a sign that you're getting on a bit yourself.

Not usualy interested by many stars passing away other than usual sypathies however I really liked Peter Falk.

Not just for Columbo (which I own the full box set) he has also been in some great movies Princess Bride for one.

He was also really good in a recentish gangster type film.

Just one more thing
I have his autobiography somewhere around I will have to dig it out and read it.

RIP Peter

Thought it was great the way the baddie often misused technology to give himself an alibi and Columbo worked out how he (well, usually a 'he') dunnit.

And of course the Borgward and that soppy hound. smile

He had suffered Alzheimers in recent years; RIP Peter.
I recently posted the passing of James Arness of "Gunsmoke" fame realizing that most of you would not be familiar with that iconic western. However, he later played the character "Zeb McCahan" on "How the West was Won"; I am told that was a favorite of many on your side of the pond. Anyone remember?

Perhaps the tv program that I can switch on, sit back and just enjoy, because he is always going to get his man in the most relaxed of ways..

RIP Mr Columbo.

Indeed he was...as you wish...
Brillant actor.

I am a huge fan of Falk and Columbo...just one more thing and all that....the fact he wore his own mac, the fact he mumbled and muttered impro'd his way through scenes genuinely confusing and annoying the other actors with his funny little cop routine. He was ace.
I always plus Columbo on a Sunday afternoon, shared a love of him with my Gran. I can watch Columbo and imagine watching it with Gran, I know I haven't seen them all and it's always a treat when one comes on I don't know...though that is rare now.

I only know James Arness from Big Jim McLain...a man who made the Duke look normal sizedbiggrin

RIP, another good one gone.

I've now got an image of his coffin lid opening, him peering out and saying...
