It's not started yet but the mud's already making it look like a huge s**t hole. I know that the music's good, but the weather is so often like this (or worse). I just don't get it.

I think the free love is long gone what with Benjamin and India in their triple-insulated yurt not wanting Tarquin, Jamelia and Poppy seeing inappropriate things. An article in 'i' just about summed it up along the lines of "The stench of defecation and kebabs.....".

"The stench of defecation and kebabs.....".

Is there much of a difference?

I am a huge live gigs fan but I hate the idea of going to a festival.

I think a lot of it is down to having a fun/unique experience with your mates.

Drugs. fking tonnes of drugs. Apparentely last year the dealers were using radio controlled helicopters to fly them over the fence.

i used to go to alot of raves. Glasto wasnt really my thing but i tagged along anyway. it made my beloved raves look like well organised clean gigs with cliff richard. maybe i just got a bad area of the event, but where we camped everyone was constantly being a load mouthed git, stuff was stolen every 30seconeds and people walked around as if they were playing a computer game which had sprite detection turned off as they bundled into you.
i went back to the safty of my drug crazed sleep deprived rave lot after this and stuck there!

Number 1 in my list of things I'd rather die than be doing... Spend a weekend in a muddy cess pool without a wink of sleep amid thousands of others. hehe

I love gigs, festivals are even better. I don't care if it's muddy or wet (good fun sliding in it anyway).

I have many fond memories from festivals like Oxegen, electric picnic. Nothing can beat waking up in a random tent wearing one welly, one flipflop, a pink cowboy hat and 2 naked women biggrin

I've been going on and off since 1971 and love it. OK, so some areas of the site are a bit smelly but why would you want to spend the weekend near them? And it can be a bit muddy but it's grass, in the countryside - it does that when it rains you great soft townies...

When you're as fked as the majority of the people there will be, the mud becomes more of a mild inconvenience/challenge than a major problem. smile

I would wager if you woke up in a nice hotel room it would be a hell of a lot better (and the women would smell nicer as well!)

I don't get it either. The point? I am sure there is one for some people, but I don't see one.

I went to a concert in Hyde Park once.

Absolutely filthy it was. I got mud all over my Lobbs.

Well, I’m sure it's worth it for the live music gig lovers.

Can't say that mud and other stuff appeals to me (toilet arrangements for example). Then there’s huge crowds – a bit too much.

But when one is surrounded by mates and pissed off his/her head – maybe it doesn’t feel so bad biggrin

Anything sponsored so heavily by Greenpeace is surely to be avoided at all costs.
