Hello? Is that Comet? Yes. I need a new computer monitor..........It suffered a terminal failure..........Because there's a table lamp embedded in it.
Yes, I have the billing address.
Do you have a pen and paper? You do! Marvellous.
Ed Miliband
Care Of The Labour Party, London.............
The Street?
Um. Just ask the delivery lad to follow the smell of fail.
Cheers!
"He vowed to stop Labour being "the party of those ripping off our society" such as benefit cheats and bankers."
On R4 he more or less said he wanted Labour to become the party for hard working people, as opposed to the above.
Which I find hard to reconcile with the fact that they are the party most closely associated with taking as much money off hard working people to give to "benefit cheats and bankers".
So really, to shed that image he needs to commit Labour to lowering benefits and lowering taxes on all but the richest.

He's not a popular man in his party and even less popular with the public.
But they will still vote for him in droves as he isn't Maggie Thatcher who many labour voters are trying to stop being PMOnce she dies it will be a big lose to the labour party
The modern voters do not change their votes very often, the small minority who are swing voters are the section that the government and opposition always focus their energies on. These are people who vote for their own interest and not for historical reasons.

Shouldn't we be ripping it out of Milliband for that interview today? Littered with absolute guff. I don't know where to start, so I'll let you go first.......
Perhaps very few if any at all were that bothered to listen to the final death thrashings of the Labour Party.I hear they are booked into Dignitas next month.

Milliband's approach looks very clear and well-based to me since Labour has lost the middle ground of politics to other parties. Namely he's shifting the focus from the "un-working man" to the "working man".
Be afraid; be very afraid. With so much wealth and power now concentrated in the hands of so few people the middle ground of people in UK who consider themselves "working men" may offer a very large pool of potential ReaLabour voters.

This has been the same for many years, it is how Tony Blair got elected and it is how Call Me Dave got elected.Be afraid; be very afraid. Ed Milliband isn't going for this on the basis of his speech, his brothers speech now that was a brilliant speech and if he was leader the Coalition would be in trouble.
The reason for this is simple most people vote on what their family does. The swing voters are the very small minority that make governments. This pattern will remain for a long while as the politicians are also pandering to the needs of these swing voters. Rather than going for their core values and core voters who IMO would turn out in higher numbers for such values.

Why Bash Ed Milliband? Its simply counterproductive. He's unelectable as future Prime Minister, the more ammunition you give this the more likely labour are to realise this, and get a better candidate.
I actually think that in some areas the rhetoric being spewed out is so anti coalition and very weighted towards deflecting the current funding cuts on the government in power not the one that lead us into the recession (and the inefficiency of local government) that if an election were called for next month Labour would be strong contenders.
