London 2012 organisers have been left with red faces over their green promises, coming under fire from the watchdog that monitors their sustainability claims after admitting defeat in a bid to make their Olympic flame the first low carbon version.
Oh FFS!

I think they would come in for criticism for having thousands of athletes flying in from all over the world to compete.... And spectators travelling to watch. All that Co2 which is needlessly generated, they should ban the olympics to save the planet, surprised the Eco Warriors haven't come up with that yet.....

Not to mention the ginormous building sites all around London for the past 5 years.

I'm sure all the Olympic facilities were simply magicked into being by the Green Fairy herself...

Someone care to remind them how much CO2 is generated by making 1 ton of concrete??

Why don't we just kill everyone ? Its obvious that people are causing the problem so we might be better off just abolishing them.

The problem here is non productive tts who pontificate and generally interfere while generating more spent air by virtue of simply existing.

I hate these sort of idiot control freaks who insist on moaning and trying to make everyone else conform to their fantasy ideal.

Compared to the CO2 released by the people running with it, the inevitable convoy of vehicles, and such like, the CO2 from the torch will be fairly minimal.

Also, IT'S A FLAME YOU wkERS, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?

And breathe. (Not to deeply though, nasty CO2.)

When the green people come up with these statements do they actually believe them or are they just trying to cause trouble/have a massive joke at our expense? Surely even someone concerned for the environment can see that certain things are inevitably going to cause CO2 emissions and just move on to something more important?

No no no.

They're natural and made by Mother Gaia herself.

Whereas this is the Devil's Maglite.

I'd have thought the obvious problem with it is that they're making 8000(?) of them, one for each runner. That certainly isn't low carbon. To do it properly they should have one and pass it on (with maybe 2 spares for when it gets dropped).

Is that true???? FFS! hehe

A properly green olympics would just involve not building new olympic facilities for each event. I can't see that happeneing as it means less profit for the organisers which of course is the deciding factor on who get's to line their pockets.

there are loads of mixtures they could have burnt that don't produce CO2. They obviously didn't try very hard.
