You want it, now look at what it does:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/ce...

Is this the start of something? Who is next to slow operations down when they get hit?

But at least you get the utopia of being able to spend someone elses money at their expense and never needing to work for the good of the country and just demand that you deserve everything the workers have and dont have.

Bet you are also the guys complaining to the Chancellor about it now too.

They are merely doing what unions do, withdrawing to put pressure on an elected government (well nearly an elected government). They are doing this for the same reason the underground drivers refuse to play ball - money. They see this country's need for energy as a way of supporting their demands in the same way RMT see the workers' need for transport as a way of further their demands.

Both see it as a legitimate ploy to attack the economy for their own selfish ends.

I may be missing something, but this was a Conservative/Coalition tax that has done nothing to address prices at the pump, and only seems to close down one of our few remaining industries that produces more than 0's and 1's?

Why don't the government "reclaim" the gas field under some obscure piece of legislation and then sell it to one of Centrica's competitors?

So basically the Green revolution continues to turn the UK into a backwards country with little or no energy production that's increasingly reliant on foreign energy providers. I hope that the crusties are happy with their achievements rolleyes

Out of interest, why do 'green pressure groups' have so much influence on government policy? And how much money do those in government have invested in green policies considering how they seem to push them through at the expense of the good of the country?

I don't really understand the point of this thread.
It has nothing to do with Labour and not a lot to do with tax generally.
The conservatives put the tax on gas production up.
That company has said that its now equally cheap to import the gas so it will where beneficial.
Its just a bit of a non stary with a non point.

I think that sort of thing is only allowed when the private company has blown it's brains out and comes crawling to the public sector for help. smile

In fact, thinking about it after hearing the Southern Cross story - is that what the bloated public sector is for, to clear up the mess left by the greedy private sector?

Why is this thread an attack on Labour when the policy was implemented by a Conservative chancellor? Surely it's simply evidence that changing the colour of the ties of the monkeys in charge makes no difference?

Yeah, and I believe they have fked everything up enough to make the ConDems look horrible and evil with all this talks of cuts and tax rises, and will try to get back in power in the next gen. election.

Example (notwithstanding the aforementioned tax)?

You do know the conservatives aren't actually making any cuts on public spending don't you?

Or if you read the Title... It says:

To all you Nu Labour that want to raise taxes...

As in thats the nu labour solution to all the problems that were caused by creating a bankrupt country... tax the rich and make them pay for it, have a successful company, lets tax you and make you bleed...

Now the Coalition are trying it as they are trying to find some money and look what is happening... they stop and stick two fingers up at the government and reducing the amount of product they supply.

It was mentioned several times before that the Nu Labour solution was that you can just bleed a company/person dry by taxation and it would work as they wouldnt do anything and simply accept it... Seems they dont take your ideas to heart.

Didnt say it was Labour doing it, just that the Coalition are using the general ideas of 99% of the labour supports ideas and it doesnt work.
