really its not that sickening- or if it is then you are very very sheltered.

I got hit on the hand with both slippers and rulers- they don't hurt very much, and they don't do any damage. Pain really isn't such a bad thing.

I think that's fairly sick. The kids are simply too young to be punished like that, and the guy is a .

He's enjoying hitting little kids with rulers and pulling their hair, all whilst other adults are there as well. I think that is fairly sickening and from what you say I have obviously been much more sheltered than you.

Erm, I got worse when I was at school. A whack on the hand or back with a little ruler is hardly a beating IMHO. I'm more concerned that it seemed to be for every child rather than a specific punishment for a specific crime which suggests a bad teacher.

IMO that kind of thing isn't exactly anything to get worked up about, as long as the punishment was deserved.
I was brought up using the stick as much as the carrot, and the entire generation above me was schooled with corporal punishment. It's not like he's beating the kids, it's just a tap with a ruler? According to autobiographies I've read, we used to use the cane for years.

IMO it's just news tts being sensationalistic, and worse it's american news tts trying to call Egyptians barbaric, because they know the locals will eat it up...

We used to get slippered for handing in poor homework and it never did me any harm. Funnily enough we were discussing this down at the S&M club last night. There's not enough people in the country chained up if you ask me.

Seriously the man's a monster, I'd kick his fking teeth out if he did that to my child. He didn't even mark the homework, just put a line through it. What a bd!

Dont know the whole story on it but I doubt its much worse than what happened before I was at school with the cane and in some respects I would like to see that come back and enforce some discipline again.

But I suppose it was fine for us to do it 30 odd years ago or is that forgotten?

Not really, he is clearly an equal opportunity chap as everone gets a clear smack of equal proportion but the girls try and hide their hands so it all takes longer. As per usual it's the women faffing about and not just wasting their time but everyone elses.

Yep, slipper for talking in assembly and cane for sneaking off during break all before I was eight. I should by rights be a serial killer by now. smile

A slipper isn't quite the same, and you were older.

No, it's worse. I've had the ruler as well, so I know. And how do you know I was older?

How about when teachers would just lift the lid of your desk and slam it without any care if your fingers are in the way or not.

Hitler was a monster, The west's were monsters, people who run peadophile rings are monsters, josef fritzl is a monster.

What this guys is doing may be distasteful to some, but its not inherently MONSTRUOUS, unless you are incapable of judging things for yourself.

It was barely 50 years ago where our classrooms were MUCH tougher places than they are know- caning was legal in the uk up to 1999, and if you attended a school where caning took place, then the classes were quiet, more respectful and certainly more effective than the rowdier counterparts.

Lets be honest, have you been into a school recently- i'd rather kids were caned, than left school at 16 unable to read/write properly, with no respect for themselves or others, or any idea of the consequence of their own actions.
