There's only two options on asylum seekers:
1. Go it alone, and deal with each and every one that arrives on your shores and airports
2. Share the "burden" with your neighbours

The EU appears to be trying out the shared burden model.

Uk needs to decide what it wants to do. "Blame the eu" won't do much.

How's it working out M?

Is VdL still looking at/favouring a Rwanda style solution too?

Varadkar was keen as well but he jumped before…

Yup, for the past months this has been gathering pace up the political chart. Of course our incoming Labour Government under the direction of its capt flip flop is going in the opposite direction. Could make it up really.

Has it ever been made clear as to exactly why the controlled inward immigration exploded since brexit?

If they all go through the approvals process, why so many, so quickly?

Post Brexit Britain is a more attractive proposition than the stshow unfolding in the soon to be far right dominated EU.

You can tell you don't live in this country as you again prove you have no absolutely idea what you are talking about.

You simply pollute this thread with your nonsense!

Labour didn't win, the Tories lost, and they lost because of reform, which only exists because of ukip & brexit.

Do keep up.

Another post proving to those of us that live in the UK that you are an eejit!

The Tories promised the electorate Health, Wealth, Control of Immigration, and delivered on none of them (plus many other areas). The electorate could see the Tories were taking their votes for granted so many people lent their votes elsewhere at this election. If Labour also don't start to deliver on these areas they will lose their majority in 2029!

Labour vote largely unchanged from last time, so the movement was:

Tories>>>>>reform

Or did you not notice?

I live in the uk. And I agree. The Tory party that came about through Brexit is what gave them the biggest loss in their history.

Brexit brought the loons into government led by a buffoon surrounded by sycophants

Aside from the fact Trumps VP pick said the UK is the "first Islamist country with nuclear weapons" (I guess he never heard of Pakistan)...

...A Trump / Vance combo is bad news for closer UK / US trade. As they will likely continue to advocate an America First policy. Who should the UK try to cozy up with for EU replacement trade deals now?

We are entering a new period of global instability, and alienating the EU, our closest trading partners and one of the largest trading blocs in the World, would be bad idea. I'd hope Labour will be more pragmatic about a new UK/EU than the likes of the Conservatives and other small, but vocal, political parties.

They are already looking more professional and less sensationalist. All they have to do is be better than the bar set by the last government which was the lowest of any government in my lifetime.

Depends if you voted for them I guess as they’re doing the exact same stuff the last lot did but apparently it’s different with this lot
