Why can't we just pay MPs more and be done with all this crap?
Let's pay them what they are worth...fk AllIndeed, being an MP is a thankless task at the best of times. If all goes well you get zero thanks and if things go badly you get no end of hassle. The only real incentive is the prestige of the job, perks and pensions.
Sooo, if we made the job more attractive with a proper salary then more qualified people might be tempted to have a go.
As an aside how do MPs get away with 'expenses' that breach the inland revenue rules? Are they legally a special case?

If it is all within the rules, why did he mysteriously stop claiming it in January, shortly before the "scandal" of that other waste of skin Jackie Smith's expenses scandal came to the fore.....?
You do realise he isn't the one sat there doing his expenses. Or even the one advising the person filling in the expenses.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
