Missing lad in Tenerife

Fair enough. You fall into the trap of believing the media hype, especially when they want to see the seeds of doubt over people’s motives.
Tbh I'm finding it all a bit sketchy but at the same time felt it was worth posting about their offer to the TiKTok guy for balance. munroman said:
I think that was a case where the snowfall had been so heavy that the body was buried for months, a Mountain Rescue person checked every day, eventually they had to bring in ground penetrating radar at the end of Summer, otherwise the body would have been there over the next winter.
A few years later a guy fell down the same way, landed in a deep snowdrift, and despite leg injuries, managed to make a snow hole.
Shortly afterward he heard a thud, a dog had fallen the same way, the 2 of them huddled together for heat overnight.
Next morning they were limping out and met the Mountain Rescue guys heading in to collect the bodies!
Was it Mallory and Irvine that got lost and came out of the bottom of a glacier about 80 years later, or something similar?A few years later a guy fell down the same way, landed in a deep snowdrift, and despite leg injuries, managed to make a snow hole.

Edit
Not all right, but not all wrong, either.

Mallory and Irvine are still on the NE Ridge, though there has been some talk that Irvine's body had been removed, but by whom??

Not that uncommon. I found some bits on a trip to the Chilean Andes, up about 20,000 feet we found bleached clothing and bits of metal.

Also at this point it’s body recovery if he’s out there rather than rescuing him. Risk to rescuer is always considered.
Just wait for the vultures to start circling (do they have vultures of the avian variety in Tenerife?).![curse](/inc/images/curse.gif)

Nothing like starting at the beginning 2 weeks layer As for Jay Slater walking home… don’t underestimate how stupid young lads can be after a few pints. I’m sure young lads don’t consider geography or climate after several pints.
When I was a young, stupid and tight-fisted Yorkshire lad. I often thought I would rather walk home after a few beers rather than pay for a taxi and save myself a few quid. It only took 15 minutes in the car, how bad could it be?….
…. 1 or 2 hours later I’d still be walking back and sobering up to maybe that few £ would have been worth it.
On a different note, I have known missing person cases in the UK where the police did look at where the last mobile phone signal pinged, the phone company provided info on which mast it was. It wasn’t precise but narrowed the search area down. I suppose this would show if he walked away from Masca or did something underhand happen at the Airbnb? I can’t see why “they” would abduct him after he walked away when they would have their chance before that?

His last phone ping is known. Somebody went there and found discarded sunglasses nearby (which may or may not be Jay’s) and suggested the actual location of the phone ping (which phone hasn’t been found AIUI) so was inhospitable and unreachable as to suggest to him it was probably still there having been thrown…When I was a young, stupid and tight-fisted Yorkshire lad. Hadn't he slept at the remote B&B and then the last alleged call was around 8am? This wasn't a midnight drunken situation.

I'm sure he had a nice early night, and only a couple of refreshing cold drinks the night before.I suspect he was hungover and dehydrated before he even set off on his walk home in the morning (thus even more likely to make poor choices - such as not wanting to wait for the bus - maybe didn't even have the fare for the bus).

There has been so little info released about the 2 blokes, why he went there, who they were, specifics on phone records etc. which suggests either the local police are keeping quiet or are incompetent. It has the hallmarks of the McCann case with so many questions and so few answers.

Both alcohol and “party drugs” affect one’s decision making, but in different ways.
Well, the plot thickens.
Allegedly....
"Police are understood to be speaking to witnesses about an alleged Rolex theft at a beach club hours before the teenager’s disappearance."

According to friends of Mr Slater, he had stolen the £12k watch and was attempting to sell it.
I suppose he may have a met a highly motivated victim, or potential buyer, and discussions ended badly.

As mentioned in the article above, Mark Williams-Thomas has effectively confirmed a few things floating around, and it suggests that Jay's friends haven't told publicly everything they knew:

As I suggested many pages earlier, him fleeing the guest house would also explain why he didn't want to wait ~2 hours for the next bus.
edit: apparently it wasn't a Rolex, the Snapchat he supposedly sent said it was an "AP watch" (Audemars Pigue) that he and the other two were going to sell for "10 quid".

The Rolex theft was mentioned right from the start but seems odd that it's now only getting reported in the mainstream media.Allegedly....

Maybe there is a lot going on in the background but the whole investigation seems to be a complete shambles with various suspects / persons of interest allowed to fly back to the UK
