I know I'll be worse off under Labour even compared with the diabolical Conservatives, so I was going to vote Conservative again, but I've now swung to Reform.

I like Reform and think they can deliver on some aspects that are important to me, like immigration, but I don't think that they would do so well at the day-to-day management, so it wasn't an easy decision.
Why is that is always comes down to immigration for those on the right?

Not bothered about schools? About the NHS? About the environment or the economy or defence spending or roads?

Always bloody immigration.

National polling of 18% would still produce results like the above concentrated in specific wards. So yes Red wall returning to Labour but Reform likely picking up some seats and becoming the second party in many seats.

My postal vote has turned up, so after voting Labour my whole life every chance I got, this should be a victory lap for me.

But no.

I thought I could hold my nose and vote Starmer to get the Tories out, but after his diabolical treatment of the Labour left, I can't personally stomach it anymore.

I'm voting Green as the only choice for the left.
Interesting. The old election form sitting there in fromt of you really does crystallise the mind.

Well, for me that is going to screw up the country more than any of the other issues. I don't like how it is.

- Schools, no. In my area they are really good. I chose to live in a quiter area, with a hybrid job, and suck up a longer commute for a better quality of life.
- NHS, again, in my area the service I've received has been nothing short of amazing - from my wife's recent childbirth through to medical issues - however I'm well aware of the wider issues and I'm pleased that Reform have pledged funding.
- The environment - not particularly. There's nothing more that I can do in the UK that will make a credible difference to the planet. The world is addicted to disposable crap, air travel, and construction. Are we going to ban Temu, Primark, holidays, concrete, and cars? It amuses me how we try to be some bastion of environmental righteousness - the only reasonable answer in my mind is to cut global population because people arent about to give up their lifestyle, so it's really a case of whether war or mother nature gets there first.
- The economy is screwed for numerous reasons, but mostly because we give too much away, and it's too hard now to row back from that position. ONS statistics were 53.3% take more than they give in tax. Illegal immigration and an ageing indigenous population is going to make that worse. I pay a hell of a lot of tax so I'm certainly doing my bit.
- Defence spending to me is pointless right now. We're 30 years past having a credible force, and it'll take far too much money to adress that at a time when the money is better spent elsewhere. As much as this pains me given our proud military history, I don't know why we continue to act like we're still a global player.
- Roads. Too many people.

Continually importing people on a large scale will directly affect all those things.

It certainly seems to. I wonder why that is?

I assume the demographic is mostly male, 25-60, no idea on race/religion. Is there a correlation between an interest in fast cars and financial success? Could be. That may be an indicator of conservative values. Or all we all just aholes? hehe
Older, conservative minded, interested in expensive cars, with a disproportionate skew towards IT contactors who don't want to pay any tax?

My local Conservative MP has been utterly useless at delivering anything for his constituency so he won't be getting my vote. The Labour hopeful comes from the Midlands. The Lib Dem is local. The others, meh!
The last time we had anything other than a Conservative was 1945 so it's about time we had a change. Just not someone from the Midlands please. As it stands at the moment, my vote (holding my nose) is for the Lib Dem.

Sounds like a very sensible choice.

I'm sure they can promise, but then anyone can promise!

Can you tell me three things about Reform that make you believe they could actually deliver?

Given that you express a concern about our ageing indigenous population, have you ever taken time to wonder what the country might look like without all the younger immigrants we've had coming in?

Not going to be voting this time - we’ll be in Cornwall, and I couldn’t be arsed with a postal vote, such is my ambivalence and antipathy this time around. Not like me at all. Mrs D feels the same too, and it’s not like her either.

My Local MP here on the South Cosst has been utterly useless. Never replies to any correspondence (friends always have had the same too), and seems always too busy to do anything in the constituency or for anyone when in need. A neighbouring MP, where we used to live, is the complete opposite and is excellent (same party too).

I have voted for both Labour and Conservative in the past, but IMV the reality is they are all clowns, gravy train troughers. I just think we need change, not because of the plentiful jam tomorrow in the paradisical sunlit uplands that will inevitably follow fast on the heels of the myriad unrealistic promises that are being made by all of them, but rather because as in 1997, there needs to be a clear out, particularly for the Tories.

In fact, I would go so far as to suggest that if they do get wiped out, they need, once and for all, to split into two separate entities, and end the charade of the ‘broad church’ nonsense. They are simply not one party, and haven’t been for 50 years or so. Equally, I am suspicious of Labour - Momentum and the left have seemingly kept very quiet of late. Will they prove to be a Cilice in Skier’s thigh?

Thems me thoughts.

Well hopefully this translates nationally and we finally have a serious government to look forward to.
