I think technically as soon as a GE is called and they get through 'wash up' Government is dissolved, I'm sure there are contingencies for crisis etc.

I seem to recall the day after the election, parliament is recalled, the new MPs sworn in (there will likely be a LOT of new MPs) then they vote for who is going to be PM and then whoever wins goes off to the Palace to ask to form a Government. It's pretty quick.
The government goes into caretaker mode, parliament dissolves and no new bills can be passed.

For the public service this means that there is a general change freeze. Things keep running as they are but any changes require directorial level approval.

The new government gets to start governing on day one, after a bit of pomp and ceremony (which we do love a bit of in the UK).

Prepare for the dirtiest, most antagonistic and negative campaign that we’ve ever seen.
Agreed, I fear it will be the clearest indication of how far we have sunk as a nation, I’m minded to pop my vote in the post and take a long holiday, it’s going to be gruesome.

I’d love to think this is optimism rather than naivety.
I'm 62. I've lived through several of them. None have killed me, or left me poorer as far as I can remember.
Don’t give them credit for matters outside of their control hehe

May as well say it was all down to god!

It will because Labour also want to introduce it.

Surely this will be one of the lowest voter turnouts ever at an election? I know loads of conservative voters who can’t face holding their nose and voting Tory but who also can’t face voting for the other options. What a state we’re in.
This is me too.

None of the parties will admit to how serious the situation we are in is. Therefore, no matters who wins, it’s going to get worse as whoever wins try to stick plasters over artery’s and then give up & start to concentrate on feathering their own nests.

None of the current parties can fix this and I have no idea who actually can. If I could leave this country, I would because the next ten years are going to be interesting to say the least.

I disagree since I was able to vote I have voted 10 times
Then I just get on with my life.
People will always get through changes there is good and bad in everyone

But I do wish he could have waited a couple of hours so we got to see more of Paula Venells. at the enquiry
I bet Rishi does too - it's just started to pour down - he could have done it from inside. A gamble you may say
And the coverage on BBC is battling between the level or Rishi and the tt with the megaphone at the gates
It's better on Sky they know how to filter the volumes.
I think this is a sign that his campaign will fail badly
