Never realised how few of the candidates actually live in the constituency
This is the only campaign leaflet I have so far received from any party.
"Be Tatton's most local MP ever,"
That is quite a claim for a guy who is currently a cabinet member in Westminster city council and has never lived in the constituency when the Green's candidate has lived in the constituency all his life.

Why do they casually lie like this? What is the point? I'm not more likely to vote for him because he is local.

Hardly surprising. I think you must have to have a certain amount of sleaze inbuilt before even thinking about being an MP.
Had a couple of Reform leaflets today. Immigration, something, something. They didn't even touch the floor, straight in the recycling.
Technically you shouldn’t put dung in the recycling bin. Had a couple of Reform leaflets today. Immigration, something, something. They didn't even touch the floor, straight in the recycling.
Great for the Roses, mind.

What's the problem with this? - unless you run an obviously poor campaign. It would be "insider trading" if Rishi had laid a bet against himself .

Nope.As one of the responses says, Tory candidates are far more likely to be found betting against themselves.
Betting on yourself to win is absolutely fine.
Migrants in northern France have admitted that they “can’t wait” for Labour to win the election, as it will make it easier for them to come to Britain and settle here. Speaking to reporters from the Telegraph, migrants said they're delaying making the illegal crossing to Britain until Sir Keir is in No.10 and has scrapped Rwanda deportation flights.

It would be "insider trading" if Rishi had laid a bet against himself .
It gives them an incentive to not do well (offset by a £90k salary) but if they have private polling of constituency level results then it will give them an unfair advantage. It would be "insider trading" if Rishi had laid a bet against himself .

I know at least two peers who gamble to make the odds look better for their favoured party in certain seats. Lo and behold “bookies have us in a close second” can appear on leaflets shortly after.
The CEO of Best for Britain is accusing peers of what in the financial world would be market manipulation. If all the rumours are true and the story is picked up by the press this could be a megathread with Craig Williams being the new Allegra Stratton.
Would certainly be interesting to see how constituency betting markets move compared to the news.

An elderly Iraqi woman allegedly said:
I will not go until the day they make the right decision to destroy Rwanda. I am looking forward to a new government. If things change, I will go.
Meanwhile, in other equally credible news, Elvis and Red Rum are secretly living together and keeping been in Barnsley. Not a politician, but I once met a chap who bet several grand on Jeremy Corbyn becoming PM.
He didn't view it as sport. His reasoning was that he would lose much more if Corbyn became PM, so this was his insurance policy against that.
I wonder how many MPs bet against themselves as a financial cushion, should they lose their seats.
