Just watching the BBC news live from there. There has been a call for volunteers to help look for him. Total so far turned up: 3.
Really that's not good, was imagining dozens of people turning up.
i thought his mum had flown out a whole load of people to help with "the search", even getting their families out?
The police specifically requested that only experienced mountaineers join them, rather than a bunch of teenagers from the UK (which may be what people are assuming).

I imagine local sympathy isn't very high.
It’s highly probable that local news contains different information and paints a different narrative to what we are hearing.

I would like to think the police are/have looked in to this properly (otherwise why continue to search in the specific areas) but is it known with 100% certainty who called who on the morning he was reported missing - e.g. did this widely reported call to (or from) this Lucy character ACTUALLY take place?

Yep and I would imagine the locals know alot more about what's actually happened to him.

Trained and Experienced volunteers only. They don't want Frankie in a pair of airmax, no shirt and no sunscreen turning up.

Where does this insight come from?

Surely if you are correct this would all have been solved days ago . . .

The Police are saying the two guys he went with after the festival aren't relevant.. Surely they definitely are?

There will undoubtedly be pressure from local powers to ensure that a tourist wasn’t kidnapped and murdered by locals…much better if he’s died of his own stupidly in a ditch or never found.

I didn't take much noticce of it, but I'm sure there was some young lad on the news from London who'd randomly (didn't know Jay) flown out there to help. Seemed a weird thing to do (if correct).

This chap? He’s out there now searching I hope the family give him some of their fund to cover his costs.

Yes, he posts on FB. He was planning to walk the NC500 for charity IIRC and instead switched to Tenerife.

Lucy sent this message to show the call log which, if legit, indicates that she called him at 8:44am, not that he called her as she stated.

Whether there were other calls between them isn’t clear, and whether they spoke on this call or she simply let it ring for the duration (and he didn’t answer) is unknown.

And that was the only call, too, it seems. No attempts to call again? Here’s what a typical day looks like with somebody I’ve spoke with a few times:

Surely nobody is dim enough to think that you can make an outgoing call and then claim that the person rang you, and nobody would notice the obvious difference?!

I’m fairly certain though that if the call hadn’t been answered then it wouldn’t show the duration, that only happens if the call actually connects as far as I’m aware?

You’d think so but that theory was debunked pretty quickly. I just phoned myself (iPhone), obviously it went straight to voicemail, and is now registered as a 25-second ‘outgoing call’ in my call log.

I wonder if the police are somehow able to access mobile phone call records from the network providers themselves, rather than relying on anonymous screenshots from the internet?

They could call it Automagic Phone-o-Recordz-Tok or something like that, just to satisfy the armchair detectives that it’s genuine.

I clicked on your link but I'm not sure what someone at Currys with a bucket thing on his head is going to add to the search

This is correct, if it goes to voicemail and you keep deleting/re-recording your message you could make the call last for the 2 mins, if no voicemail and you then end the call the call log will show 'cancelled call' (my iphone does this)
