With the Caledonian Isles return date still not confirmed, and the Hebridean Isles looking likely to be axed at the first opportunity, there's rumours that whenever the Sannox is handed over the Calmac familiarisation/test period will be reduced before fee-paying service, just to score a press 'victory' to beat the Islay boats.
Which is why I’ve always preferred a full week of trouble free service as a measure rather than “we got some paying mugs on board at Ardrossan Troon and 6 hours later a tug dragged it into Brodick”

What’s up with Hebridean Isles? 39 years old so needs major work to keep it going?

Basically, yes - a number of crew cabins have been condemned due to water damage, so she can't carry a full complement of catering crew so there's been limited hot food on offer. Several other bits of the ship need a lot of money spent on upgrades/repairs, and it's just not viable to keep her running. The Caley Isles has had a huge sum spent on it just to eke out another few years whenever she does return to service.

No issue with postal vote here, it arrived last Saturday.
We're still waiting on ours.

Cutting it fine despite applying promptly and chasing repeatedly. Apparently it should arrive today but if that passes they couldn't tell me if I could change the address it should be sent to. I'm a somewhat irked by the ERO blaming royal Mail and vice versa. Admittedly, there'll be a significantly higher volume of applications but it's not rocket science.
Rod, have you seen the article below for people who have registered for a postal vote but have not yet received it?

Got our postal votes yesterday (Scottish Borders). The Cooncil are opening a voting station in the Cooncil HQ this weekend for missing / delayed postal votes.
I see that the SNP candidate is from outwith the area - a Dumfries address. In a previous election the SNP couldn't get anybody to volunteer to stand, and they strong armed a very reluctant Alex Salmond's sister into standing. She told me she really had no interest in the job, but had been pressed into it as they could find nobody else to do it. She lost.

Polls are showing SNP losing 31 seats.

Basically a redwall will appear through the entire central belt and the snp will be a echo chamber for the highlanders

Unfortunately you’re a bit Central belt bias there.

Aberdeen and Dundee really aren’t the Highlands. I’ll be gutted if that turns out to be accurate.

Quite why the SNP still hold such sway across that part of the country (Dundee excepted) is a mystery - they have done nothing for those areas, and the coastal ones on the West you think would have the ferry fk ups featuring quite highly in their thinking.

The SNP will win North Ayrshire with the support of Arran residents grateful for those two replacement ferries they got back in 2018 and 2019.

They came from far and wide, from all corners of Scotland, the hoards of SNP voters arrived en masse to stand beside John Swinney giving their support for the coming election...oh wait how many was there again..???

One voter who asked not to be named thought he was practising for the Fringe Comedy Festival as the words he was saying was pure dead hilarious.

I wonder about the methodology - in a tory seat in Aberdeenshire here and everyone locally I've spoken to who's mentioned the election has mentioned keeping the SNP out.

I wonder if they just apply a nationwide percentage reduction in Tory support to each individual seat?

What was Swinney thinking about with that get up? He has actually seemed like an adult in comparison to the previous two in interviews I've seen in the passing, but crikey!!

I think not. Thislink shows the predicted votes per seat. The northeast are all only around 1% difference so all to play for.

https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/area_scot.html

Maybe some reform voters will realise the beating the SNP in Scotland is more important than kicking the Tories. Maybe there are 1 or 2% shy Tories not telling the truth when polled.

I don't think the Tories will hold all their seats but I would be surprised to see them as low as 1.
