It's pretty much confirmed that "woke" just means "they said something I don't like".
An interpretation which fits extremely well. And all these woke warriors know that hehe
Those ”Left” and the "Centre" tend not use the word “Woke"

Because they know how to spell words like “Enlightened, Tolerant and Compassionate”

"Right on" is the one that I find weird.

It's such a cringe-inducing phrase, like a tweedy geography teacher trying to do a full "how do you do, fellow kids?" routine.

I have no idea how it's meant to convey that you're mocking people's more liberal views, it just makes you sound like a prat.

Got to have originated as a byword akin to "woke" in the DM or Telegraph or similar.

Yeah, right on is old sitcom patter.

Matt Goodwin with his latest book seems to have a good take on where the country is politically.

Here he is speaking at the Nat Con conference.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRasyYVYyjI

It's direct and not exactly favourable to the current Conservative party.

<<Trigger Warning>> He does love an "air quote" or two... smile

There's some world beating whining going on there.

I particularly like watching white middle-class university graduates bleating about the world is being ruined by ... white middle-class university graduates. Presumably the wrong kind of white middle-class university graduates ?

I don't want to defend Hancock but when someone suggests a culture war isn't a great look it's probably bests to just keep quiet if you don't agree, unless you're freshly back from the NatCon where they let you do a speech and sing...

Considering the number of white middle class graduates in positions of power and the current state of everything would suggest that’s almost certainly true.

Red Wall Tories are a certain "type".

The type that call the police on kids playing in the street.

That’s nice.
That’s a Twitter pile on on a pol who criticised the widely admired statesman of a generation, Matt Hancock and his increasingly desperate attempts to claw himself back into politics?

Hmm. Sounds like every day on Twitter.

You *have* seen a picture of the current cabinet? There’s this bloke in the middle of the front row. The PM or something…

apart from the strategy on coal, Biden, as I have posted in the Biden thread has implemented all the economic policies that Bannon won an election on. he has done it because it was the right thing to do.

the difference? it's not called economic nationalism, it's called the 'inflation reduction act' and the chips act.

we need to debate and do the same in the UK. we can't keep exporting our problems abroad.

Nebraska has just passed a law banning abortions over 12 weeks and gender re-assignment surgery for those under 19. a total u.s Tiktok ban won't be far behind

we need a *debate* whether that's right for us in the UK.

the conservative movement is where that debate needs to be started, it's not going to be driven by the Marxist aligned political groups.

What am I doing? I am actively posting on this forum to get everyone to vote for the Marxists at the next U.K election to get these fake Cons out whilst posting in the Ed Davey thread hoping that he does something of note in order to temper things.

I think proportional representation is where we are heading and the Nat cons (and yes the Greens, begrudingly) are very much part of our future.

Nice talk from Melanie Phillips too. What a great event. It's like a right wing Woodstock.

The figures back him up. Not only are the young more left leaning than they were, but the data shows they are not drifting to the right as they grow up either.

(Interesting to see this is true in the US as well as UK)

So Hancock is right. If the Conservative party lurches to the right, then they’re in danger of capturing a diminishing population of older people.

If I was being very cynical I would say this is another reason why the right wing don’t want the economically necessary young people to arrive by migration either, but perhaps we’re into the realm of conspiracy there. After all, a more effective jerrymandering strategy would be to introduce excellent health and social care for old people, and we’re not seeing that…

It can’t be that much of a surprise. Millennials have spent their entire adult lives being ignored and ridiculed, why would we keep voting for the people who’ve been doing it?

Might take them longer, but they'll grow up eventually.
