Still seems a bit of an odd system that allows 80,000 right wing extremists to pick the leader of a country of 60 million.
Strange definition of extremist - being a member of the party which got the most votes. By that definition 40% or therabouts of the population are extremists. The electorate too small? So apart from Conservative Party members who else do you suggest elects the leader of the Conservative Party?

So we can keep on printing money and give out huge hand outs just to pass on with no financial hardship?
Not quite as the constraint is inflation and, despite the many who seem to view deficits as "progressive", inflation hits those on lower incomes and/or with small savings pots hardest. By contrast excessive money printing tends to inflate the wealth of those at the top. Hence the money printing to finance lockdown resulted in large rises in wealth for them. Looks like Liz has some work to do.

I expect she can turn it around if she can reassure the public in the first few days energy and cost of living issues.
I’m (a bit) surprised so few people think she will be an improvement over Boris

The markets think she is going to be even worse than Boris. This has got to be the least optimistic outlook for the future of our country for a very long time.
Uk stocks were the only European based stocks to go up yesterday, the rest got hammered with the news on gas being shut off permanently from Russia. £ rose a little too.So what do you base that on?

Perfect for her the public and MSM think she is hopeless before she starts a very difficult job. So anything she does that is positive will make her a hero !!El stovey said:

Whilst there are a few on here that cannot comprehend the notion that pretty much all inhabitants of the HoP are a shower, I suspect more people out there think along these lines than don't.I’m (a bit) surprised so few people think she will be an improvement over Boris

I guess it is the £ $ rate, but then the Euro has also fallen sharply against the dollar too. So what do you base that on?
America is self-sufficient in energy because it didn't follow Saint Greta so their currency is bound to be doing a lot better.

$ is the world hegemony currency, in uncertain times money always goes there.America is self-sufficient in energy because it didn't follow Saint Greta so their currency is bound to be doing a lot better.
The Eurozone in particular is in for a kicking as investment is pulled from Europe, it's uninvestable compared to USA and Pacific rim.
