I think Trump is going to win it again and it is going to be hugely amusing in here to see all the heads explode when he does.
Agreed. If he somehow manages to run as Republican nominee, and people are throwing everything at him, he's likely to win and the meltdown is going to be hilarious to watch.
Can you explain what it is that's so funny? Do you mean by 'people throwing everything at him' the legal system holding him accountable for his crimes, or something else? I'm not clear on what that meant.

Pointless? so once again when challenged people refuse to debate because you have predisposed ideas? I'm not sure I've even discussed anything with you before, instead you take the usual smear position?

I can name multiple US politicians who are principled, etc.
I've not hidden my admiration for Ted Lieu, I think Pete Buttigieg would make a great presidential candidate if the US would accept a gay man because they struggle with women.
AOC stands out with her commitment to fighting for the small people, Jamie Raskin with holding the GOP to account, not least in the fake Biden impeachment attempt. Harris is a good competent VP and could make a good Potus

There's a lot of good younger candidates coming through for the Dems, an interesting side effect to trumps attack on women and abotion rights etc.
It is not a smear it is merely an opinion.

You haven't challenged anything, just grrrr GOP bad DEMs good which actually only supports my opinion.

Putting AOC and Harris forward as principled competent politicians is actually amusing, thanks for that.

Look I know I am not going to change your mind on anything, may as well shout at the tide for coming in, so have a great day and enjoy the rest of your week.

Ah, I thought it might be that sort of thing. Yes, that has spawned many, many memes. Also plenty of examples of trump supporters having meltdowns for those who are entertained by this sort of thing.

However, it's not funny for many Americans that they could end up with a president who tried to end the democratic process in their own country. Mrs. Guitar is American. She wouldn't scream into the void like the woman in that video, but she'd tell you that the possibility of some more trump is not funny at all.

Do you consider AOC 'unprincipled'?

If so, on what grounds?

Personally, I don't find rape, fraud or insurrection funny.

I must have a word with myself, obviously.

I think what these people find funny is others being concerned/unhappy about a rapist/criminal/insurrectionist being voted back in. It's a complete mystery to me as to why, but I think that's what we're looking at here.

At the end of the day, it will make diddly squat bit of difference who sits in the White House to the common person on the street.

People get very heavily invested in whether it's one crazy old guy, or a different crazy old guy who stands up and makes the speeches.

I agree.

There was no difference between Obama and Trump for example…

This is simply not the case.

If you're a female who needs to get a pregnancy terminated for medical reasons, for example. If you'd prefer to keep your vote in the future, rather than having a president who will attempt to become a dictator and has openly talked about having a third term, disregarding the Constitution.

It's hard to exaggerate just how close the US is to sleepwalking into a disaster.

Okay I'll bite on this one...

AOC the socialist taking full advantage of the capitalist economy she exists in with her merch website selling cheap goods at vastly inflated prices, yeah strong principles that one.

unironically wearing the designer dress emblazoned with "Tax the Rich" at the lavish and exclusive Met gala event another example of her principles.

Blowing the Amazon deal for her constituents that would have bought many high paying roles into the area "because amazon" yeah competent politician.

In my view AOC's principles extend as far as benefitting AOC and whatever her agenda may be on that given day.

On what grounds do you think she is principled?

I don't know much about her, she's appeared pretty sharp though on some of the videos I have seen of her taking some opponents down a peg or two in Congress.

Perhaps I missed the /s hehe

Highlighting the oddness of Gary’s point. I can see he’s corrected it now though.

(Although it’s still wrong!)

I edited my post 2 minutes before your response. The only amendment was relating to how it will affect the common person.

I would (genuinely) be interested in seeing that, nothing I have seen has ever really shown her in a good light. (echo chambers and all that) Obviously she can't be all dumb to have got where she is.

But that doesn't really answer the question does it, why do you think she is principled? My understanding is that she is pretty much an avowed socialist yet she doesn't appear to be holding herself to that same standard.

Pretty much a good idea wouldn't you say? trump relaxed tax on the very rich, companies don't pay, trump gavce them all tax breaks and as before when they claimed 'trickel down economics' nothing happened just companied bought back shares, the employees didn't benefit.

Again you claim others are fixed in your views but do exactly the same yourself, mostly using fox/GOP/Newmax talking points which just aren't true. I pointed you at several principled politicians - who do you consider then as principled?

The US tried trump, it was a mistake of huge proportions, not sure why some want to try it again hoping it'll be better this time, because trump is busy telling people it won't be, in fact will be much worse.

I can recognise my biases.

You didn't point me at principled politicians, just ones that you like, and if I am wrong about that you will be able to tell me why they are principled.

I don't think there are that many principled politicians out there of any colour, though I actually would say that Corbyn did/does stick to his principles and as much as I may dislike them I respect him for that. I actually would have preferred if he had been allowed to let his mask drop while he was in charge, I think the entire political landscape would have been better for it as there would have been a discernible difference in the choice of direction.

Sames goes for US politics I actually don't think it makes a great deal of difference who sits in the chair, I don't think Biden has made much difference same as Trump didn't (or wouldn't do if he gets back in)

  • edited to rephrase my last point as it wasn't saying what I actually meant.

confused yes we can see what you changed it from and to, we can also see how it changed the context - I’m hoping you can too hehe
