Interesting that Sunak pretty much immediately said "If you’re calling for women to shut up and wishing they didn’t exist, you are the problem." about what Tenant said but didn't seem to find it quite as easy to say the same thing about Frank Hester who said a lot worse than "If you’re calling for women to shut up and wishing they didn’t exist".
Interesting you use the comparison of what someone was actually videoed and saying it, to someone who apparently said something a few years ago with no actual evidence of it apart from ‘he said she said’.Countdown said:

I don't believe he has denied saying what was quoted though, just that they were "taken out of context," and that the criticism of her wasn't about her gender or the colour of her skin, even though his words may have referred to that.
He didn't refer to either and I expect absolutely would have said the same about a white man had such a person done to his family what she has*. It was Badenoch who brought her sex and race into it.(*obviously as culture wars and policy, not specifically targeting his family only)

I think that I'll stop there,

Except Tennant didn’t call for all women to shut up, he called for one specific one to. Purely because of what that one specific women had previously said.
Haven't you adopted the new rules?Criticism of:
A women = Misogyny
A black person = racist
A muslim or Islam = Islamophobic
Israel or a Jewish person = Antisemitic
Etc.

"The prime minister posted on X, external that freedom of speech was the "most powerful feature of our democracy", adding: "If you’re calling for women to shut up and wishing they didn’t exist, you are the problem.""
ah well that's ok then, Tennant wasn't calling for women to shut up.

...but when you haven't got a decent answer it's best to make something up.ah well that's ok then, Tennant wasn't calling for women to shut up.
I'm surprised she didn't call Tennant a racist.
The minute you say you wish someone didn't exist you're in some pretty repugnant territory IMO.
But I think Tenant said it because he thinks Badenoch is vile rather than it being anything to do with her being a woman or being black.
If Abbot had done this this thread would be different and people would be saying she was playing the race card.

I don't think it was at the front of his mind but I do think it is telling that men (especially those on the right) who say things on trans issues do not get the same level/amount of criticism as women (especially those on the left) like Rosie Duffield, Kate Forbes, JK Rowling, or Julie Bindel - all of whom say the same things as people like JRM and Douglas Murray but attract a lot more attention for doing so.But I think Tenant said it because he thinks Badenoch is vile rather than it being anything to do with her being a woman or being black.

Hmmn. I think it's somewhere between the two when she's one particular woman who he only knows about because she's an elected representative.Used to like Tennant, his series of Who was some of the best.
Now though, there's something about a straight bloke who waves the flags and wears the t-shirts at every opportunity to be a good little 'ally' that irks me, especially when a speech turns into an aggressive rant like that.
Badenoch was stupid to make it into a race issue, proper swing and a miss there!

His child is non binary so that’s probably why he’s an ‘ally’ as you put it.Now though, there's something about a straight bloke who waves the flags and wears the t-shirts at every opportunity to be a good little 'ally' that irks me, especially when a speech turns into an aggressive rant like that.
