We are of course, assuming that their thinking patterns are the same as ours, which they very much are not. Whether, they are male or female, they are likely to be very loud, low intelligence, addicted to social media, lack self reflection, therefore see nothing wrong in their lifestyle choices and behaviour.
To sum up, they think that wandering around their neighbourhood with a couple of giant, killer dogs makes people look up to them, a mixture of fear and admiration.
The reality is that most people see them as low life, dangerous scum.
A depressingly accurate summary of the attacks since andyA700 posted this.

I've never actually seen an XL Bully around here but suspect it's only a matter of time given the number of dogs that moved north of the border before Scottish legislation caught up.

Local boating lake, boat keeper shouts out “Come in number 9 your time is up”

His pal reminded him they didn't have a number 9.

Boat keeper shouts out “Number 6 are you in trouble?”

That is bloody awful, the dogs should be put down and the owner put in prison for a couple of years.
Sadly, again fits the stereo type - looks like a council estate. Not that the harmless old girl who’s probably lived there 40 years needs to put up with that, however it’s indicative of environment and demographic where these attacks are happening.

As for the Irish lady, an example of a dog turning on its owner. You wouldn’t get this with flock guardians or other guarding breeds. The dummies who own these simply won’t accept their fighting dogs.

Much to my surprise, it will be a requirement to chip your cat in England from Monday. I'd heard nothing about this, though there have been headlines about dangerous dogs.

Seems rather pointless legislation, has there ever been a problem with dangerous cats?

Owners who do not microchip cats face £500 fines https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c7221y677nqo

I suspect cat owners will be more compliant, but time will tell, assuming there is some way to actually enforce it.

You win the award for the most silly post in the history of PH!!! Tell me you know absolutely nothing about dogs without telling me...

You don't think livestock guardians can get nasty with people? You honestly think a couple of causasion shepherds won't get funny if the mood takes them? Or Kangals won't turn nasty if they feel (important word here) their is anything which could be a threat? I'll take a moment to pick myself up from the floor to stop laughing in a minute. You do realise what dogs the Russians used to guard the berlin wall right?

XL's are not my breed. Never owned one. Never wanted to own one. I'm not scared of them and have met plenty. If anything they are a bit placid and boring for my taste. Overly friendly goof balls that want to be lap dogs on the sofa. Give me a german shepherd any day of the week. But the idea they are elite fighting dogs is also hilarious. Two breeds are used in dog fighting. - APBT's, or if you are really poor and or are just getting into dog fighting a staffy. You can tell the fighting ability of those two idiots that they couldn't cause an injury that required a stitch on that old bird!*

  • They could but you can clearly see they were playing with her. How they played with a stranger is totally unacceptable - and i wouldn't allow it with any dog I owned. But the idea that this was an attack is as ludicrous as the idea that livestock gaurdians can't get very nasty very quick if they decide they don't want you near them. I've seen far more serious injuries to humans from puppies teething.
If you think that requires two years jail then I'd love to see what sentence you'd give for a real bite. I currently have a scar on my hand which would be a life sentence for the owner to you. It was from a greyhound.

Poor woman is probably going to be traumatised and scared of dogs for life now.

Six months for out of control un muzzled dogs seems fair, along with a fine and life long pets ban.

I’ve had 14 dogs.. flock guardians covers a wide range of dogs. The most predominant in this country being the German shepherd, which traditionally don’t eat their owners.

Alabais, Ovcharkas, kangals, aren’t really suited to the uk, as they have no real work to do.

Any more drivel for us.

100%. My main passion is my dog(s) - when I was younger cars came first, driving them, working on them etc... But now I'd rather work with a dog than a car. And I will always advocate for dogs. I feel like they are let down by humans most of the time. Breed plays a massive part and responsible ownership is picking the right breed for the right situation.

However I'll say this again. Those dogs didn't attack that women. If they did the injuries would be significant. I've already said that their behaviour was unaceptable and I wouldn't tolerate it from one of my dogs. But they were trying to play with her. The idea that the owner should get 2 years in jail and the dogs should be put to sleep for trying to play is awful. I do think the owner should be made to undergo and pay for dog training though.

Anyone who thinks that is a dog attack needs to give their head a wobble. I volunteer to help with the local dogs home. Basically I walk and do some training with the dogs who can't currently be rehomed. And I've had worst from trying to stroke a lab puppy than that old lady got. Anyone who claims to be a dog man who thinks it was an attack if having a laugh.

I'm totally up for meeting up with anyone for a pint in South Wales. I'll introduce you to me dogs if you want. If after this anyone still thinks I'm a low life deserving or name calling feel free to come back on here and give me as much abuse as you want.

P.S here is a pic of my newest dog next to the most loyal best friend I'll ever have. He is a rescue rottie who was at risk of being PTS if I wasn't willing to foster him. I ended up falling in love within a few days and couldn't imagine life without him so he had to stay:

I’m for strict liability, if you had rushed that woman, knocked her over, injured her, ripped her shoes off with your teeth, what sentence would you expect? That’s the sentence the owner gets in my book.

Any dog can bite of course, but when you end up with a physically strong dog with massive jaw power, you really are in possession of a lethal weapon and need to be punished as such if you fail to train and control.

While the bites to the old lady are not of the face-ripped-off variety and she doesn't want to prosecute, she will still now be fearful of dogs bigger than her Jack Russells.

Regardless of her decision not to prosecute the owner, the dogs are clearly unmuzzled, not on leads and in a public place so the owner must automatically be prosecuted under the new legislation.

If you live in England you can now check how many XL Bullys are registered in your area. By post code.

"The data shows that the worst place in the country for XL Bully ownership is in Croydon, where there are 219 XL Bullys in the CR0 postcode region. The second worst hotspot is the S5 postcode area just north of Sheffield, where there are 189 of these dogs, followed closely by an area of Warrington with 182 Bullys. "
