Just an FYI

CNN does not decide who the president is.
In spite of his best efforts, neither does Trump.

Spoken like a true fool who has never left the UK.

(Not you Bill).

The Dem’s are not Left wing, they are centre-right with a smattering of ‘progressives’ who are just left of centre.

As Bill mentioned some of the Scandinavian countries and Belgium, France, Slovakia (iirc) all have 50%+ / 60%+ tax rates for certain groups of earners.

I am a huge fan of the French system in which you pay more tax when you are young / single and the tax liability reduces as you marry and have a family.

Biden is fantastic news, nothing radical, a safe pair of hands to try and heal the divide in the US.
Appreciate the clarification biggrin. I've actually liven in Belgium and visited most of those you list. All have plusses & minuses naturally, but you wouldn't describe any of them as godforsaken pits of socialist gloom and failure. Most do a better job on infrastructure, healthcare, education etc than the UK and USA do.

You may have noticed he was laughing - unlike Trump, Biden has a sense of humour. It was a joke.

Every single major news outlet, from AP, through CNN to Fox have all called it. The Secret Service agree, as do most leading Republicans.

She's right to say the Democrats didn't do a great job of the election - had they done so, they might not be waiting for the Georgia runoffs to find out if they'll have control of the Senate or not.

I suspect that's like Corbyn accolites saying Starmer's Labour have lost their way.

They may not be as 'left' as Labour but they have very similar personalities and views. It will be an interesting couple of years.

Quick, tell all the world leaders (like our own PM) who have congratulated Biden before it’s too late!

Much like Starmer, he's going to have to find a way to deal with the vocal fringe elements

They seem a little divided both in their political views and what they consider to be the reasons for their poor performance in congress and senate races.

The other day I heard that one Democrat was blaming them for being too left wing, now we’ve got AOC saying it’s the opposite. I don’t think she can be right really. You’d hardly choose not to vote democrat and risk republican government because you thought the democrats weren’t left wing enough.

Momentum is a fringe outfit in the PLP now. I expect most people who "supported" Corbyn will support Starmer and many will vote Labour again now Corbyn has gone.

Labour will coalesce around Starmer, and Momentum will shout impotently from the fringes - they tried the Corbyn thing, it failed (thankfully).
