One has to wonder what Sunak knows that the rest of us bewildered minions don't. It could be that he just has incredibly poor judgement and called the election early without proper consideration or he knows what is coming down the tracks and doesn't want to be the man in the firing line. We will find out soon and the wet lettuce Starmer will have to deal with it. God help us all.
My highest opinion is he just wanted out. He has an epic list of contacts now, huge financial resources and can live in the US and turn his personal wealth into multiple billions
This. He's got all he wanted out of the job. He never really gave a st about fixing any of the country's problems, that was just the undesirable part of being PM and if was only getting worse.

TBF, and this applies nowhere more than in planning, if anyone can force reform onto the public sector, then a Labour government with a decent majority can.
Depends on which part you're talking about, though. If you take education, how do you make it more "efficient", especially given that it's already underfunded and understaffed?

He had some ideas, bring in sales ban of cigarettes to adults and national service, with all the problems the country is in it was good to know his thoughts were occupied by urgent matters.

Been a while since we've had a democratic change of Prime Minister... so please remind me

If the predicted happens, do we have to suffer Sunak whining at a podium in front of Downing Street before he goes off to the King to get his p45?
Maybe. I imagine a quick speech and purposeful stride to the car 11.30 ish

He's predicted to hold his seat, and I'm sure he will hold to his promise to serve a full term. Perhaps.

I actually think Sunak being reelected was the last thing he wanted.

Do you honestly think he wanted to be opening new Waitrose Supermarkets and attending local community sessions over the next five years.

Doesn't have to, does he? Little other than "optics" for an MP to worry about going AWOL.

Didn't follow the tradition of walking the floor to thank the vote counters when attending his count to hear the result.

Says it all really

And, in his concession speach, I note he said he looks forward to returning to his constituency home and spendings the "weeks, months, and years ahead" working there.

So, what do we reckon. Three months before he's resigned and is off to the States? Six months? Nine?

Depends on what his FIL tells him to do. He was only made an MP in the first place to benefit the families wealth.

I dunno, he was stubborn enough to think he had any chance of winning this election so i doubt he will bail that quickly.

Fair play to him - I thought his concession speech was quite dignified.

Yeah but his PM election one was, then he got straight onto the phone with Braverman

How on earth Sunak kept his seat is beyond human understanding.
